Tidy Cat breeze litter system

So I picked up the breeze litter system to try out for Finn because I was getting fed up with testing out different types of litter and disliking them all. Plus, the cats had taken to using his litter box if there was something in there that they could use to cover (like pellets, shredded paper, etc.)

I discovered it makes a wonderful box if you don’t use the pellets they provide! The grates are small enough to catch even the tiniest of poops and the pee pad can hold A LOT of urine. I change the pad every 3-4 days and empty out the box daily and have no problem with smells. I’ve read that you can use cheap doggy pee pads instead of the expensive 4 pack tidy cats sell. 

I’m really impressed with this box… and since there is no “litter” there is nothing to tempt the cats. 

You can see how small the grates are. they’re flush with the plastic so there’s little chance of sore hocks

Hmmm, I’ve never seen this box! Interesting! Rather than pee pads,you could probably do a thin layer of pellets underneath or sheets of newspaper/paper towels too. That would be cheaper yet.

I like this box too – I agree with Beka too about trying a think layer of pellets to cut costs. I’m not sure if newspaper/paper towels though would help with odor control.

I use a layer system in our traditional litterboxes… a couple sections of newspaper and a super thin layer of wood pellets over top. The wood pellets absorb urine and odor, while the newspaper peels cleanly off the bottom, making clean-up very quick. There are all kinds of different configurations you can try. Are you going to do some hay in there too, over the top?

I’m sure you could put whatever you think is best in the bottom drawer. The pads just work well for me because I’m lazy

and Finn doesn’t like eating hay in his box (weird rabbit) so I don’t put any in. His hay is next to his food and he never uses it as a restroom

We have a similar thing here marketed as a Sieve Litter Tray. Same idea with pellets in the top for cats. I’ve also seen versions of the sieve tray occasionally in some variety stores.

This sort of thing works great for rabbits like you have it set up.
