So last night I was woken up to the VERY LOUD sound of Zeus thumping against the plastic pan of his cage (a dog crate).  I got up to investigate, and he thumped a few more times while sitting in his litterbox.

Any idea why he would’ve done this?  It was totally quiet in my room, I had been asleep for hours, I didn’t hear anything outside.  He is closer to the window than me though so maybe he heard/smelled something?  I petted him for a bit and gave him some carrots, and he was fine.  It just scared the crap out of me, I was sound asleep and all of a sudden I hear this “BAM!” sound!

I’ve had that happen with my rabbits sometime and with no apparent reason that I could notice. I just put it down to something only they could see or hear since I was asleep. Some of these things you may never know unless it’s a constant thing then you might be able to figure it out.

Yeah sometimes it sucks that their senses are better than mine.. because I sat there for a few minutes, looked out the window, listened, etc, and couldn’t figure out what caused the thumping.

He’s never done it before, so I just didn’t realize how LOUD thumping is!  Holy crap!

Maybe you started talking or making noise in your sleep and he didn’t appreciate it 😛

It happened to me not so long ago!!

I was sitting in the living room, bunny proofing something out of sight, and all of a sudden, I hear ‘THUMP THUMP THUMP’ and RUN RUN RUN!!! She made a run for it for her maze haven and I looked inside and she kept thumping!!

Bunnies can hear better than humans -_-

This gave me quite a fright, also! You are not alone!
