I have a thumping bunny. She loves to thump at night and she thumps very loudly. She has everything she needs (food, water, etc.) and she has to stay in my bedroom. I’m losing sleep and really need some advice. I can’t sleep at all!

        Thank you!

Well, I had my bunny in my room at first, but realized, .. it was a bad idea. I never got sleep. She would be alert at 5 am and making noise.

Is there a way to put her in another room?

My bunny stays in the living room in her x-pen.

Looks like you have a very demanding bunny

I would but I had to move back in with my parents and there are no other spaces in the house and my parents have a lot of cats so I want to keep her in my room away from them.

It’s just so frustrating because I need sleep and I’m worried that she’s going to wake up everyone else in the house and make them mad. She’s thumping right now, as I’m typing. Ugh lol.

Is this the one you just took in that you posted about in another thread?
How are her litter habits? You might be able to allow her to be free range in your room at night if she has good habits. Or is she too active at night?

I would attempt free range if your room is bunnyproofed. If you can’t do that, look into getting an xpen for housing. If her litter habits are good, you could have either blanket or carpet flooring, and if she does thump, the thumps won’t be nearly as jarring as they are in a plastic-bottom cage. Plus she would have more space for moving around and things to keep her occupied.

Maybe you could give her a floor surface that will make the thumping less loud like a thick layer of hay, carefresh or fleece blanket. Watch out for blanket chewing though if you use one.

Thumping is showing she’s irked. Maybe she needs more room and things to do.

If shes just active and awake and on the wrong schedule you could try adjusting her schedule. As soon as you get home in the afternoon turn on lights, tv and radio or what have you-make sure she is awake. Then when it’s bedtime turn everything off and go to bed. It may take some time but if you keep her up when you are up and put her ‘to bed’ -she may just adjust nicely.

All some great ideas. And no, this is not my new bunny. The is the bunny I’ve had for a few months and she has usually had this issue. But I’ve moved back in with my parents so now she’s in the same room. I hand made her a cage so it has a wooden bottom covered with linoleum. But I could see about putting her exercise pen around her cage bc my room has carpet.

Her litter training I would say is at about 75% She still poops in the floor but not as much as she used to. The only thing that scares me about letting her free range in my room at night is if somebody forgets and opens the door and a cat gets in. My parents have 4 cats and one of them is HIGHLY predatorial… the other three are predatorial but not nearly as much as the one.

I also like the idea of adjusting her sleep schedule. I wonder if I’d be able to keep her awake all day lol.

So you have a new bunny in the same room as her? Has the humping started/increased after the new bunny showed up? Are both rabbits spay/neutered?

My bun thumps when she’s running around the living room so I don’t know if it’s a sign they need more space
