         Hello,

I adopted a new rabbit today and I have named him Peter.

        He’s a neutered male silver Holland lop~

and Iv had bunnys in the passed but honestly I don’t ever remember this thumping!

It isn’t bugging me but im not sure if I should leave him alone when he does it or if I should continue to pet him/approach him when he does it.

        Suggestions?
should I just leave him alone for now?
He is currently hopping around my room.

Rabbits thump when they are afraid or feel there is danger, it is there way of communicating a possible threat to other bunnies. It is not uncommon I believe for bunnies to thump in new enviornments, it means they are more on alert. New noises and smells in your house may startle him and cause the thumping. It’ll take him some time to get used to your new home, and the thumping should stop. You can leave him to hop around to explore and check out his new place, and also lay on the floor with him so he starts smelling you and getting to know you.

Congrats on getting a bun! We want pictures!!! ^____^

One of my girls is a big thumper. She thumps when scared, angry, irritated, when treats are late, when dinner is late, when her toys are in the wrong place, when her towel isn’t fresh, etc etc… lol. Some bunnies like to thump.

              I give you Peter!

He’s stoped thumping he’s just laying down and hopping around now, a moment ago he did something which caused hat and bedding to go EVERYWHERE out of his cage, but im unsure of what he even did it was loud though and I turned around and he was looked up at me like “Oh yes, you need something?” and there was hay and bedding everywhere x)

also he’s seemed to master turning over his bowl of food 😐

              :]

Congratulations! He’s definately a holland lop – adorable. Such a funny lil face!
If he’s this new to your home he’s likely freaked out and thumping about everything. It should settle once he becomes accustomed to the place.
He might have done a binky or raced around in his cage when he messed it up. Some like to do short bursts of crazy running. It’s a good time for him to be out of the cage
during those active times. They can put on quite a show.

Thanks ^.^ I just love him and look forward to getting to know his personality.
He was out of the cage, I had the top off so i could use it to block the closet cause it looked like he attempted to once bite the wood and I wanted to be safe. :]

It’s so funny yesterday I laid down and just handed him pieces of hay and he got all in my face head butting me and was hopping all over my back
and it ticked cause he’s so soft.

He’s cute. Some rabbits are just thumpers and he may or may not stop his thumping if it’s for disapproval – means he has lots of opinions and personality.
