        Hi everyone!

I have been reading that many people feed their bunnies baled timothy hay, as long as its horse quality and not cow quality. I have found a local supplier that sells 40 pound bales, and am just looking for advice before I make any purchases! Is there any risks I need to be aware of before I go ahead with this?

The hay has been assessed and has a composition of 7.8% CP, water sol carbs 10.7%, simple sugars 6.6%. It says “Great for horses with special needs diets.”, unsure of what that last part means in relations to rabbit feeding!

        Thank you everyone 🙂

Hmm… I’m sure sure what that means either. But if it’s horse-quality hay, it should be fine for your bunny. I think the biggest issue with buying bales is having a cool, dry place to store it.

With hay it should smell fresh (not musty) and have no signs of mold. Other than that you are good to go, as long as it’s a grass hay. 🙂 Rabbits and horses have very similar digestive tracts, so things that are good for horses are usually good for rabbits.
