I went out to eat with a friend and then we went grocery shopping. I was gone for maybe 2 hours. This is what I came home to: ![]()

These poops are where she likes to hang out and sleep halfway underneath the coffee table. She also poops under her blanket and box where she sleeps. This area was clear of poop when I left.
So I guess I will see how it goes tonite after I clean it all up. If there’s poop in this area in the morning, she’ll be going back to the pen routine. I don’t know what else to do. I pick them up and put them in the litterbox and she does poop in the litterbox, but it seems like it’s only when she also has to pee or get a drink.
So I don’t know that putting her back in the pen will work. AHHHH!!! lol
She got scolded when I got home, so she’s not too happy with me. She was hiding on the other side of her box across the room, looking at me over it while I talked to my mom on the phone. LOL My little diva doesn’t like being told no. haha
Ah bunbun1, I feel your frustration. This is what I’m often faced with also. Jersey will poop (& pee!) in the kitchen if I’m out during the time they’d normally get fed.
I’d say Lolli has gotten used to you being home and it’s quite the change in routine for her when your not. I think you have nothing to lose by starting to pen her. Even when you are home and having scheduled time out of pen. As long as it’s a consistant routine. It may help in the end for when you are going to be away from home more.
I can’t say that’s why she’s doing this but I sort of think in the long run, her having pen time won’t be a bad thing regardless. For litter retraining though, you’ll want to limit her out of pen time.
It’s crazy, right? lol Wacky wabbits we have!
She has already been blocked from my bedroom because I found a pile of poop in there, right next to where she was laying. Sigh.
This is almost as batty as Eddie was with his litter when I first got him. LOL
If you want to keep her out, I would add another litter box there if that’s were she likes to go.
I think once I get to it in the next few days, I’m going to put her in the pen and then sprinkle some carpet cleaner stuff down, let it sit, vacuum it up and then maybe spray frebreeze so hopefully those 2 will take her poop scent out of the carpet and she won’t go in those spots. I know it probably won’t work cause that’s the kind of luck I have, but my carpet wil be fabulously fresh! lol
I have tried putting litterboxes over the spots that she poops at and she just poops next to the boxes. At which point I just bang my head on the floor or nearest hard object. lol j/k
she just poops next to the boxes
They are such little buggers aren’t they!
I wouldn’t recommend using the artificial products. It’s ten times stronger in smell and chemicals for the bunnies as it is for us. A simple mixture of white vinegar and water, or Nature’s Miracle spray cleaner, can be just as effective.
An out-of-cage litter pan is very helpful for making pit stops. I always had a spare one out of Spockie’s cage for when he was out. He used it regularly. It was best in a corner or under a desk so he felt safe. Sammy amazed me by going all the way back to her one cage litter pan no matter what room she was in.
Ok, this is slightly off subject, but with these litter boxes outside of the pens, do you put hay in them to or just the litter, (I use walmart brand carefresh) Also I have a cat, and just because I know how she is, I know she would use it, do you think this would stop Aspen from using it?
Don’t mean to Thread Jack, this just struck me as I read this thread.
Ooo I wake up to this every morning if I sleep in too late. You know bunbuns1 how dare you go grocery shopping without Loli! I hope you brought back plenty of carrots and parsley! *giggles*
SarahM4 – Personally, I put hay on top of the litter in any boxes I use. But this is just because Miss Stinky Butt likes to eat and potty at the same time.
RabbitPam – I have put boxes in other areas and she doesn’t use them. Even after I put her poops in them. She doesn’t pee anywhere else but her main litterbox. She just poops everywhere. Like I put a box under my kitchen table because she used to poop under there. I picked up all her poop there and put it in the box, then put the box under there. She never used the box. Just continued to poop under the table. For some reason, she has completely stopped laying under the table. Maybe she didn’t like her poop picked up all the time. LOL Maybe the boxes are too small? They are just normal sized cat litter boxes.
Lintini – I know, right?! Geesh. And I ended up not getting more lettuce cause we already had some. Sigh. Maybe she is doing it in anger. The first time I gave her butt bath, I swear she pooped in anger about an hour later. lol
Lol thats what my blanket looks like after Franz hops off done with pets >.< tonight I was like "Michael? Can you vacuum me? I'm trapped under poo!" lol -.-
If you scold your little Diva after the offensive act, actually, actS – countless poops, each an act – she won’t know what the scold is about and she’ll just be confused and unhappy. I know it’s exasperating but at least they don’t stain, they dry and are like dry peas, you can just vacuum them off the carpet or scoop them up. It’s diffiicult to catch a bunny in the act of pooping – they just seem to fall out of them in any position. Elrohwen said that scooping up ALL the poops from all the undesired locations they’re left in, and placing them in their litterbox will eventually dawn on them not to poop anywhere else but. She claimed it worked with her rabbits after a few months of diligence. I know it’s a pain – the pile of poops my Dustor leaves on his bed is like an arsenal of cannonballs! lol It could be worse – I’m so grateful they don’t smell and stain like human or dog or cat poops!
Too, consider it a big plus that your bun can produce such nice well-shaped poops and doesn’t have poopy butt, gi stasis, wool block or some other ailment – a hundred times more frustrating and unpleasant to deal with. Good luck with your “diligence” tactic, if you do it.
Oh, I am very thankful it’s not pee or anything else. lol It’s just frustrating when I leave and the place is mostly clean. Then I come back to that! lol
My friend, who has 2 cats, suggested that maybe she’s doing it because her litterbox is too dirty. Which I don’t think is the problem cause she DOES poop in her box when she’s in there. But her litterbox is due for cleaning and I’m going to pick up her area like normal and see what happens. Like if maybe she is pooping in other places cause her box is too dirty for her. After this, I’m just going to give up I guess. Keep picking up her poop but that’s it. Cause heck if I know. LOL
When I am gone for a few days, Indy and Bee will poop all over my bed and floor. I think they get mad because their routine is different.
Sometimes when we go out and one of the dogs really really wants to come but has to stay home; he will poop in front of the door to show us who is boss and that next time he should come too! And then 90% of the time someone steps in it of course. It’s like a boobytrap! We call it rage pooping. Lol.
Do you think our rabbits are rage pooping too when we are gone?
Do you think our rabbits are rage pooping too when we are gone?
Don’t know? I don’t think they exactly feel rage per se but sometimes it certainly feels like it. I think alot of this sort of thing does go back to natural habits/instincts and their sense of feeling secure. That’s where routine plays a big part. Maybe they do it to mark territory so their buddy aka slave can make there way back after being away. See bunbun1, Lolli’s just helping you find your way home. Lol. But seriously, she might feel it’s her job to mark out places. It’s just inconvenient for us!
*giggles*
hahaha! Yes bunbuns1 needs help finding her way back to Lolli
!!
hahaha! Yes bunbuns1 needs help finding her way back to Lolli
Yep, apparently I do! LOL Seriously though, I don’t think she likes me leaving her. I always come home to the disapproving death glare. lol
It occurred to me last night that maybe she’s pooping all over her pen area because when I sleep on the floor, I overlap onto her area rug. Doesn’t explain all the other pooping areas though. lol
And i need to post pictures of her lazy eating. We were both laying on the floor and I looked over from reading and see that she’s all stretched out and moving only her head to get the pieces of hay to eat.
