Hi, everyone! I haven’t been active in a while, but I’m back! My almost 2 year old baby, Binkie, has developed a super bad habit. She’ll hop onto my bed, and then start digging on my sheets. She’s torn a lot of my blankets, and made holes in them, and I don’t know what to do to get her to stop. I bought her a fleece for her to dig on, hoping that it would deter her attention away from my sheets, but it’s no good. I’m planning on her to be free-roam in my room once I get her spayed, but that won’t work if she keeps destroying my sheets. Any advice?

I have a loft, so the buns don’t have access to my bed, but they dig at their own blankets. Some people just need to block off couches or beds, or maybe you could cover your bed with a older/cheaper blanket or sheet so she would dig that instead? The digging could also be something that lessens after her spay.

I would block access (x-pens work well for this). Digging is a normal and fun behavior for buns, so it will probably be easiest to just keep her off the bed if she’s ruining things.

I really don’t want to limit her access to my bed, so is there a way where I could train her to stop digging? For instance, getting her a dig box, and when I see her digging on the bed, I say “no” and place her in the dig box? When she starts digging in the box (and leaves the bed alone) then I praise her and reward her with a treat? I’ve seen another member do this with their bunny before, and I think it worked.

Of course you can try 🙂  Might still be easiest to take a break from her being on the bed until after she’s spayed to make sure the behavior doesn’t get too entrenched.
