› FORUM › HOUSE RABBIT Q & A › thinking about adopting a third bun??
So I have walked into the same pet store a few times in the last month and I almost walk out with a new bunny every time. I almost got a new baby tonight. Instead I got online and went to the same place where I adopted Lola and found this Beautiful rabbit. They have her in the same area as some of their cats..( I don’t know how safe that is for her) But she seems to be happy.

Penny & Lola are both spayed/neutered.
Will it make a big difference if I have a third rabbit?
bonding? mess? anything?
Bonding might be tricky, Petzy could give you some great tips, after her quartet! There will be a bit of a mess, I’d think.. but it would get easier after they bond. I know you wanted to keep baby oliver, but gave him up. Are you ready for a third? ![]()
well. I wish I would have never givin him up. Big Mistake!
If you think you’re ready for a 3rd and can handle the bonding and everything, I say go for it.
Bunnies are addictive! I’m thinking about adding a fourth, so be prepared to want more…I actually think Petzy was the one who said this to me, when I started talking about a third
I love having a trio. They have such different personalities and they are so happy together. Did you have problems with poop war when you bonded your duo?
Okay, well I’m very excited. I just called the place and they said they have had her since December! I’m going to make a trip up there this weekend
I will keep ya’ll updated. ![]()
Now there is no way back haha.
Well, I was just reading Skibunny’s thread on bonding her trio, and it sounds like such hard work. It took me three days approximately, but I think the reason that it went so well is that I have Karl, who is so mellow and welcoming towards any bunny. So he was an excellent mediator, especially since Molly is a bit territorial.
How are yours personality-wise? That might give you a good indicator on how easy a bond it might be.
Oh, Bugsy is beautiful. I’m very partial to New Zealand White’s though. I’m glad that you are going the adoption route again for this rather than the pet store.
Let us know how it goes. I hope Bugsy winds up living with you.
Just realize I guess that it may be harder to bond the trio but Petzy is a master bonder so I’m sure she will offer lots of good advice :~)
I feel obliged now to speak. ![]()
That rabbit is huge. Look at it compared to the cat.. LOL. I love REW.
When it comes to the bonding, you just can’t give up. That’s all.
I think I might have to worry about Lola. Penny is just so mellow and sweet. I know they have some other rabbits where Bugsy is. I’m going to take a look at all of them.
haha I noticed the same thing about the rabbits size. She does look big!! I’m just so surprised she’s not scared of them.
Beautiful!!!
Third rabbit? Leads to forth rabbit and two pairs-fair warning received now
Otherwise-if you can-go for it
especially if it’s a rabbit in need of a home and you can give one

I couldn’t imagine getting a third! maybe in the future…. the distant future…..
That is partly because of the cost, but mostly because of the bonding. I used to think that Fern was the mellow easy going one, but I realized that only applies to humans. She is constantly bossing poor thistle around and Thistle just sits and takes it, so I am not sure a third would work for me.
I think it is so funny seeing Fern boss thistle though. For example when eating their lettuce, if there is one piece left Fern chases Thistle away! They have never been in a fight but Fern always chases thistle away from the lettuce so that she can have the last piece. Then thistle walks dejectedly into the cage and watches from a distance. Sometimes I take pity on him and split the last piece in half and give him one half and Fern the other.
Fern really is the boss in their relationship, she is also always demanding grooms from thistle – I sometimes think of her as the needy, insecure girlfriend and thistle is the caring understanding boyfriend. Their relationship is so cute though, when I put them in the bathroom so I can clean their cage, Fern always looks upset but thistle comforts her by giving her some licks.
Well, If you are anything like me…you will be bringing her home for sure! I was soooo proud of myself as I went and looked at bunnies the other day ….alot of them were babies…and I DID NOT come home with one. I have my mind set on a few things…one, I want a black one….soo…..I am being good. lol. Keep us updated! I want another..but in time. I have already warned my hubby that his plans for the pool table room may be revamped! lmao. I did not get as warm and fuzzy on that idea!
can’t wait to see pics of her in your arms and having a bonding session! Unfortunately, there are not really any rescues or pounds up here with any rabbits
I have been looking for over a year. basically you can only adopt from rescue’s downstate and from breeders around here. Willie came from a breeder that keeps them outdoors during nice weather and indoors during the winter. I paid $15.00 for him there. he took some cleaning up when I got him though.
Probably a good thing that there is not a rescue here!
I would caution that if there’s a possibility the bunnies do not bond (although the ‘never give up’ has worked for a lot of members here) be prepared to keep bunnies separate for playtimes and have extra clean up. I’ve been doing that with my three for two years now. I can’t wait to try getting them all moshed together eventually, so I can save myself some work! ^_^

lol…With the way Pip tends to squash poor Mimzy when she gets dominant…a bunny mosh pit is what immediately comes to mind. ^_^
*Imagines a bunny mosh pit*
*giggles*
She is beautiful! I wonder if the fact she gets along with cats will make her more likely to want a bunny friend. Hopefully your two will accept her in without too much of a angst — or it really could be a bunny mosh pit! I think that if you are up for the challenge (which could mean a messy month or so of territorial poops etc.) Also, JUST in case they don’t bond, would you be willing to keep them separate? I think really those are key points to consider (besides extra $$) but if you are prepared for all of that, and are ready to invite in another bunny in, then I say….YEAH!! It would be nice for this beautiful bunny to find her loving forever home with you – especially with REWs because they are harder to adopt out, even though I personally think they are incredibly beautiful.
Keep us updated.
