My poor little Butters has officially become a teenager. The problem is a teenage what?! We don’t know the sex of the bunny, but last week found 3 nipples on each side of its belly.. but then i heard that even the males have nipples.

About 2 days ago it started making a very low honking noise almost constantly and chases us around the house, runs circles around our feet, poos wherever it pleases around the apartment (normally very good at keeping its mess in its litter pan) and is super affectionate, when before it was content to be left alone (licking and snuggling).

It decided to start humping one of my stuffed dogs lastnight, but also got fairly violent with it and if I had left it, probably would have torn it apart! Do females also hump? Im very confused.. and my bunny is very sexually fustrated lol.

How much does spaying/neutering a rabbit normally cost?

Yes, females can hump. But with this obvious teenaged hormonal surge you’re witnessing, it should be possible pretty soon to spot if s/he has boy parts. An erection is very visible, so your mystery could be solved soon.
I would schedule that appointment right away. Take the bunny in to the vet to make sure the vet is comfortable with performing the procedure soon, and to get a price. If you get a quote of anything under $200, that’s fabulous! A quote of more than $300 is getting steep. Spays for girls is more expensive than neuters for boys, because it is a more difficult surgery for the vet to perform. But it is more important due to high risk of cancer in females, which is tragic and very costly later on in bunny’s life. You can call around to different exotic vets that specialize in rabbits to get their prices over the phone, then decide who to consult. Ask each vet if you need to stop feeding the bunny before the procedure. If they say yes, do not feed your bunny, DO NOT USE THAT VET. It’s the wrong answer and it’s a test question. Bunnies need to eat that morning.

Spaying and neutering costs vary greatly from vet to vet and from region to region. Your best bet is to get on the phone and start calling.

One thing with a quote is that you need to find out what is included in the cost. I don’t thing that $300 is too steep for a spay and I wouldn’t agree that cheaper is better either.

You are going to have to do your own due diligence to see if the vet has the experience needed as well to perform this operation on your rabbit.

at 3-4 months you should see testicles if it is a boy.           Females can behave that way too usually to show dominance.

It really varies. When you find a vet, I would suggest asking the right questions, how many rabbits does the doctor see weekly? Have you lost a bunny during the surgery? That is a scary question, but something that is absolutely needed!!

Males and females can be silly, honking, circling! My girl STILL does it (she is almost a year old and has been spayed since May) – circles me and honks! But the honking may become less after spaying/neutering!

At what age would you call a bunny a teenager?

Monkey started acting like that at 3-4 months.
