        Hey All,

so last night, i had one of my buns out, Rusty, and he was playing just fine, so i decided to let Elias out as well to let them sniff each other without the cages in the way.  well, worse comes to worse, and they both bit each other near their rumps!  i immediately separated them, and put them back in their cages, and put a larger barrier between them so they couldn’t get to each other.  i inspected both  bunnies near the spots that i saw them bite down, and i noticed that Eli had blood!  i looked a littlel closer and realized that When they bit each other, it was the fur that they had bitten  and ripped.  now Elias has a bloody spot under his fur about 1/2 the size of a dime and i’m wondering how to go about treating the wound.  do i put peroxide on it and have him pissed at me for stinging him, or just some neosporin after i wipe the spot with warm water????  i have been keeping an eye on him since he got the ouchie and he’s doing all his normal activities, still very active and eating and such, so i don’t know if i  should take him to the vet for such a small wound.  i know bunnies hurt each other when they start bonding, and i know that male/male are some of the hardest to bond, but i’m not giving up.  i just want to know how to take care of the wound and let it heal before i try to introduce them to each other again.  any and all advice please!

IF you put NEosporin remember that   the one with pain med in it is toxic to bunnies.  Just use the regular kind.

If is is already scabbed today- you can just apply a light film of Neosporin to the wound.  I would do this before you feed him- so the food distracts him from licking it immediately off.  Continue to keep an eye on the wound to make sure it is healing properly.  It sounds as though you may need to do some stress bonding when introducing them to prevent any immediate fights.

okay, i thankfully have the regular neosporin, so i will put some of that on the ouchie. i will have to check rusty when he lets me so i can make sure he doesn’t have any ouchies. i plan on doing the stress-bonding after they get fixed and are healed from it, so i will let you know how it goes. thank you guys so much for your help. i will definitely be keeping an eye on the wound to make sure it doesn’t get infected or anything.
