Well here’s a strange…most of you know how I’ve had trouble keeping Pip from chewing her litter box. (We’re going to look for different kinds of plastic boxes for her.) So last night, while letting her into the xpen, I happened to have one of those Snapple 12 pack boxes (I love their peach tea) that had broken open and I figured, “Eh, what the heck, give it to the bun to play with.”
She instantly took to hiding in it. She spent most of the evening in there, and would even pull her hay manger close to it so that she could eat without being seen. (Mimzy was not in the pen with her, btw.)
I let my daughter take the box in to place in Pip’s habitat to see what she would do with it. Not a peep out of her all night! She slept in the box and didn’t chew her litter box one bit!
Of course, she likes to chew on the inside of the box. My question is, can the coloring on the Snapple box be harmful to her? Would anyone be able to tell me where I would find the information on the inks they use on their boxes?
From this I have concluded that she really does feel exposed in her night pen (it doesn’t have a shelf area to hide under, like Mimzy’s does and I can’t find aftermarket ones) and probably chews because she is nervous. I can’t put cloths over the pen because she eats those too. I am probably going to have to make her a little ‘house’ to hide in while she’s in there…not quite sure what to make it out of though. :-/
