        The Rainbow Bridge

        [For Bunnies]

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of it’s many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys, sweet clover and lush green grass, a waiting place.

When a beloved bunny dies, he goes to this place. There is always an abundance of food and sparkling fresh water. When he arrives at the Rainbow Bridge, he is greeted by many other bunnies.

There is never a cloud in the sky and every day is Spring. The old animals are young again. Those who were hurt and maimed are restored to perfect health. There is no fear or sadness in this place.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with the special person who loved them on Earth.

Each day they run and play and nap in the shade, nibble sweet grass and share stories about the special humans who loved them.

Suddenly, one of the bunnies stops!

Little ears perk up, a pink nose twitches, and bright eyes search the distant horizon. Then this one quickly bounds away from the group, leaping and hopping for joy.

        You have been spotted.

You are showered with a million wet,

        snuggly kisses.

Then you and your special bunny friend cross

        the Rainbow Bridge together,

        never to be separated again.

Hmmm. I actually have the poem in the pinned support post.

I’ll double check to see if there that section is somehow locked. BRB

UPDATED:  Oh, the first pinned post was locked.  Now it’s unlocked, but you should be able to create a new topic too.  Let me know if you are still having problems.

OH, and just another note to everyone – the support place is also to help you when you lose any animal.  I know many of us have a motley crew of fuzzy faces and it’s there to honor all the feathered, furry, scaley creatures that we love.

              *sniff, sniff*

              I think it’s great.  I probably won’t go there much because I’m a baby and I CRY at everything…

And my bunnies have been instructed to stay FAR FAR AWAY from rainbows, bridges, and anything dangerous.  I rule with iron water-sprayer-bottle…I will be obeyed!

I hope it brings much comfort to those who need it…

I ADORE that poem. No matter how many times I read it, and I’m sure there will be many more times in my life, I never get tired of it and it’s hopeful message.
A part of me can’t wait for the time when I will cross the bridge and be reunited with all my beloved furry stepbabies.

But for now, I am happy with the ones I am with now…and cherish every moment that I wake up and see them watching over me.

That poem always makes me smile and cry at the same time. I first heard it when my beloved Velvet bunny died. When I got her ashes back, there was a nice print of that poem with her. I cried for a long time but it gives you a sense of joy too.
