        Hi everyone!

So Spring is coming around and I have started looking on petfinder for the perfect match for Ivory. She’s a very sweet girl but it takes a long time for her to warm up to you. She is quite skittish and shy.

I was thinking she would match up best with a bun who’s sweet and protective. Not some-bun who’s to outgoing and nippy.

Does this seem about right? Also I know that boy and girl pairs are usually better but do you think she would do alright with a girl? She grew up with her sister and they were the closest bonded pair I have ever seen

I would take her to a local rabbit shelter or SPCA and do some speed dating. I believe interactions at the shelter are usually a good indicator of how two bunnies will get along in the future.

It’s really tough to predict how a bunny will be with bunnies based on how they are with humans, so I agree that speed dating is the way to go, if possible.

Sometimes an outgoing bun and a shy bun are a good match, as the outgoing bun helps the shy bun feel more confident.

Boy girl is most common, but definitely try her with females as it all comes down to personality. I wouldn’t base how she is with females on how she was pre-puberty though, as everything changes when they mature and get their hormones.

Female female pairs tend to be the most rare, as females are more territorial, but they are not unheard of.

Hi thank you both for the quick replies!

Harley&Thumper: They sounds like a good idea but I don’t know if that’s an option for us saying as we would have to go very far to a shelter who does it

DanaNM: I have always thought boys and girls are the best match until Ivory and her sister Dusty. They lived together for four almost five years and have never had a fight once. They would spend hours upon hours cuddling and when Dusty passed away Ivory was very depressed. Ever since then I have been looking for a perfect match

I just found a cute little four month old boy named Freddy. He seems very sweet and is litter box trained. We’ll see how it goes!

Thank you both for the help! I’ll try and find some speed dating and let you guys know how it goes!

                Hope it goes well

You might already know this, but both bunnies should be spayed/neutered.

I know people say age doesn’t matter, but with a large age difference like that, it would be very sad for the younger bun to be bereaved at a young age. It might be better to find an older bunny closer to your current bun’s age.

I agree that this could be the cause for many rabbits but in my past my three year old girl Ruby become best friends with a eight week old male lop. When he died it seemed Ruby couldn’t go on with life, it was months before she recovered from her loss.

Ruby became happy again with yet another eight week old lop, at this time she was five years old!! For most of my buns age really doesn’t matter?

Thank you for the help! I’ll let you know how it works out
