This is a common occurence, a behaviour I find amusing that I thought I’d share.

I’ve been ducking out in the evenings when it’s cooler. I give Jersey her greens, get my things and go to leave. As soon as Jersey hears the front door open, she quickly hops into the hallway, a green hanging out her mouth and watches me accusingly. It’s almost like she’s saying “Where do you think you’re going?” I do tell her – “I won’t be gone long.”

When I get home I find, the green she had in her mouth dropped on the hall floor, the rest of the greens eaten and about 30 or more poops in a pile on the floor in front of her litter box (protest poops I call them).  Little Miss will be off somewhere snoozing……..smugly!

So I’m curious – does anyone else have a protest pooper?

The protest poops that I get are the ones that my bunnies will leave for me if I dare let another bunny in “their” free roam area…then I get a nice light dusting of territorial/protest poops that are in no random order so that I have to crawl all over the place with the hand vac.

I used to get Protest Poops years ago from my cat, Lambchop. And that’s exactly what I called them! Some expressions are truly universal.

he was a very aggressive cat, which I didn’t know since I rescued him from a shelter, and quite beautiful. All white with one blue eye and one green.

Anyway, If I went away overnight, or a few days and had my friend/neighbor feed him, I would come home to protest poops.
            In the bathtub.
            No where else.
It was as if he wanted to gross me out and be able to get it cleaned up as soon as possible. He wasn’t going to mess any place important in HIS apartment.

Haha! That’s a rather considerate protest poop Pam! You must post a pic of Lambchop sometime. (The cat, not the bunny pose….though post any of those pic too!)

These don’t show his eye colors, but this was Lambchop.

Gosh! Now I’m not a real cat person but Lambchop looks so pretty! Funnily, those eyes in the 1st pic remind me of somebunny….

(raises hand) Yup, protest poops here, as well.  If I’m gone during the day or if Mike and I are busy doing the honey-do stuff on the weekend and not sitting in the living room paying proper attention to the Ambassadress and Dictator for Life, well…..  Let’s just say that the living room is decorated with Raisinets.

That is too funny! I wish I had a bunny who cared so much O_o
But “protest poop” isn’t a problem since mine don’t roam the house lol… They’re not getting much space now, but they have a pen set up to run around… I’m in the current process of making a new bunny room lol. Once we can bond/litter train them they’ll have a BB shopping spree !

                      Lambchop is one gorgeous kitty.

LOL Yup! And protest pees. We get them if we’ve done grooming or nail trimming, or done some vaccuming where we move furniture around. They’ll poop all over the hallway, around our bed, and pee beside the hallway litter box Bad bunnies-Kahluas the worst for sure!

I put off refilling the hay box and cleaming the litterbox a few extra days once, so I could have everything nice and clean for a party.

Well, this didn’t suit Princess Pepper at ALL, and I came home to find the hay box had been dragged into the middle of the kitchen floor with a pile of poops in it!

                          I can take a hint….

Mimzy will protest a clean litter box by immediately going into it and leaving a tiny pile. If I clean that pile out he’ll go in and do it again. When I get the cage too clean, he’ll leave them all over the floor of it. But nothing quite like what you’re describing, Jerz. What a little stinker your bun is! ^_^

The favorite form of protest in my bunny house is litter box throwing. Or biting. It brings me running pretty quick, so they know it’s effective. I am well-trained.

Pam, what a beautiful kitteh! I’ve mostly had black cats all my life, but my best friend has had a white cat for about 14 years now? Her name is Duchess. (yes, from Aristocats) ^_^

                              Agreed. And I love it!
