Well all the hormones kicked in today. Poor clover is losing her mind. She woke me up this morning for our usual morning cuddles which is usually like half an hour. But after our usual cuddles in bed she started jumping in circles around my head and pillow and then started the “buzzing” noise. I thought there was a mosquito in my ear then I realized it was her. And now since then For the past three hours she’s been losing her mind. She is all over me kissing nibbling forcing me to pet her. She keeps like burrowing under my arms and isn’t happy until I like wrap both my arms around her and hold her tight. Then she’ll stop wriggling and start tooth purring. But she has always hated being held and even when we have our cuddles she never sits on me just on the bed next to me. Today she’s just laying all over me especially on my chest under my chin. But anyway literally 3 hours straight and she won’t leave me alone. I am loving all the cuddles but I’m feeling kind of used
and I don’t want to make her even more frustrated by holding her and cuddling her so much. Will this affection disappear after she’s spayed? And how can I make the next couple months less frustrating for her until she’s old enough to be spayed? She’s 15 weeks old by the way. Any information on dealing with hormonal buns greatly appreciated!!!
Oh she also started chinning today. I’ve been chinned multiple times. Me and my phone haha. Oh and thumping! She’s been thumping on the bed while running in circles. She’s never thumped before.
Make sure all the usual needs (feeding, attention, cleaning) are met, and the excessive need for attention can be a case-by-case basis. Not having her attention-needs met constantly shouldn’t lead her to health-deteriorating frustration. This may be a good time to figure out other items to occupy her while she’s with you, or figure out ways to peel her away from you. Gaining independence from each other is quite important in rabbit ownership as well!
When Wick started spraying me and doing his, jump in the air and spin spray (great efficiency and coverage admittedly; a site to behold, but the cleaning!!), I would opt to avoid such a scenario. When he’d start circling, the spray was inevitable, so I’d just get up and walk away or get him something to distract himself. His final spray before the neuter was right in my mouth because I was talking to him. Never again….
Getting her a stuffed animal may be a nice substitute — some rabbits take a liking to those, though it’s their judgement. They might not like rabbit ones, but one shaped like an octopus. There are very odd rabbits out there, but what they perceive as visual cues to be a buddy is quite unknown to us owners. I got Wick a tiny stuffed animal a while back, and it just holds his pen door open now, haha (http://www.instagram.com/p/BXg3ikCFuPP/?taken-by=wick_theboogeyman).
I think it still needs to be a while before she can be spayed age-wise, but potentially the hormones will flatten out in time, since they seem to have surged on quite quickly.
Best of luck with your hormonal baby and keep us updated!

Thanks for the advice! Thankfully she hasn’t been spraying on me (knock on wood) she’s been spraying on the bed which is annoying but we’re dealing with it haha. When we catch her we just move her to the pan. But I honestly expect that to continue until after the spay. She’s definitely leaving territorial droppings. Usually in a circle around me haha.
I gave her a tsum tsum dog toy when I first got her so it’s like a tubular shape. She shows no interest in that. And now she has a porg from Star Wars but it seems like she only likes it to nibble on its feet haha. We just got her some new chew toys/balls but she’s not showing much interest. My husband actually just finished building a 3 story bun castle and she’s hopped around in it a little but not much. So she has plenty of new things to keep her occupied it just seems that none of those things are as interesting to her as me haha.
Thankfully she just took a break and went to go munch on some hay which is good because I think we both needed a break from each other haha.

Oh Lord have mercy! How common is this?! I’m waiting for Snickers to turn into an unruly teenager.
It’s a coin toss it seems. Some males show no hormonal behaviors by the time of their neuter, some start pretty early on. If nothing’s happened currently and something changes, just remember to try and distinguish what may be hormonal behavior vs. acting out because something is wrong health wise (in pain for example). Wicks’ testicles did not descend until 8 months old, and thankfully he only started spraying/circling me (only hormonal behavior displayed) literally the 3 days approaching his neuter. It was like a little jab right beforehand, haha.

Aw…..teenager time is no fun for bun-Moms! (Or people Moms, my sister has 2 teen girls!!! Yikes!)
I was lucky in that the 2 girls that I did have, were never that bad with hormones. Olivia was a territorial nightmare but Velvet just used to hump the bejeebers out of her Daddy’s slippers. It was funny because she was a little black lop and he had these big black monster slippers. Stopped as soon as she was spayed.
And never noticed any change in good behavior (like sociability and snuggles) after spays.
Is this a common thing for them to become SO affectionate when their hormones kick in? Like following me around all day and demanding pets and laying on me the second I sit or lay down? Emphasis on alllllll day haha. I can’t decide if I love it or if it’s driving me crazy haha. She did just decide to take a break and she’s flopped next to me on the couch.
hmmmm…I’ve never had them do that. I’m a bit jealous. ![]()
