The Great Rabbit Pardon of 2016
This is an amazing cause and an absolutely wonderful group of devoted bun lovers. When a local farmer decided to give up his meat rabbit production, this woman made an agreement with him to take all of the rabbits in order to find them new homes. Over 135 of them! There is a fundraiser on-going for their care but, fortunately, after a lot of hard work and dedication all of the rabbits have found temporary homes in shelters and foster placements where they will hopefully be adopted.
Wendy is a Buddhist who practices the traditional concept of “animal liberation” wherein a creature is spared from slaughter and given a blessing for a renewed life with the one who saved them. It’s such a beautiful concept and one that I support. I’m so glad all of these rabbits will be given a second chance because someone was willing to give them a voice and an opportunity.

Farm Volunteering
I know this won’t be applicable for everyone, but if you live in the New England area there is a volunteer opportunity with the local ASPCA. A large animal cruelty case has lead to a mass number of farm animals in need of care in Westport, Massachusetts. The local ASPCA has put out a call for anyone willing to spend long hours providing care and cleaning for horses, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and other barnyard animals. Details in the link.
