In my other thread about the possible trio I breifly mentioned some health issues that Lilly has that my vet and I believe are a cause of bad breeding. I am pretty sure I posted on here about how skinny she was when I first brought her home. She has put on some weight since then but not as much as we would like. She eats tons of hay and fresh veggies and her teeth are fine so we know that is not the issue. As far as the weight goes, we don’t really think at this point that it is a symptom of something larger, but she will have a bunch of tests run the next time I take her in just to be sure.

Other then that, there is the issue of her wool. For me this is pretty much a non issue other then the fact that she absolutely MUST be groomed every day. It seems that the quality of her wool is very poor and my vet is actually sort of surprised the breeder didn’t have her PTS because of it. I am thinking this probably contributed to her being passed around so much before finding me.

Then there is her spine, which has a pretty severe curve in it. The vet actually didn’t notice it the first time I had her in. It wasn’t until I cut all of her hair that I noticed it. When I asked the vet about it she told me that it is likely that it is congenital. It does not seem to bother her right now but we have to watch it in the future because she is more likely to develop back problems because of it.

All of that being said, she is my little doll and I wouldn’t change getting her for anything. In the last few days since she has been allowed out around me more, she has become my little shadow.

My Maryann has always been skinny. The vet was worried about her being that thin but when I told her that she’s always been that way and never for want of food, it became a non-issue. Some buns are just slimmer than others. They don’t have to do the bunny 500 to keep it off.

Just like people! My son is 6’2″ and weighs barely 120 and eats like a horse.

Markus: I’m beginning to think that is the case with Lilly. She has only been with me since Easter though so we don’t really have her history of always being skinny to go on.

On the issue of luck, I’m the lucky one here. . . . she is a little sweetheart and I am lucky to have found her.

Oh yeah, and Lilly says she will gladly send some skinny vibes out to you guys but only if you send her back some “let me gain a little weight so my mom will stop fussing over me” vibes. . . . come to think of it, I could use some of those vibes too. . . . Lilly and I have a lot in common in that category.

Yeah the angoras both get alfalfa hay which unfortunately means that Acorn does too because it is too hard with them living together to just give it to Henri and Lilly. Lilly also LOVES her banana pieces and recently she has discovered that the birdies drop lots of yummy treats for her (seeds, the occasional banana chip, RAISINS, and a pellet here and there, nothing much but bunny delicacies none the less!)
