I had a similar issue with our two buns, but we got both eventually. By chance, we saw Guinness and Bleu among the bunnies when checking out the local pet mart that recently opened. We’d lost Whisky, our previous bun, recently and had a lot of guilt over how he passed so when we saw a Dutch bun like him our hearts it was hard to not want Bleu, especially since Bleu had the same colouring as Whisky but a blue eye instead of two brown. However, Guinness really called to us and she was the one I shared the strongest connection to out of the group so it was actually a really hard decision for us. Ultimately, we went with Guinness for that reason we kept seeing Bleu whenever we went to get supplies so he was still in our minds. He wasn’t being adopted for over a month and we’d wanted to get him but the cost and time commitment as well as uncertainty of bonding sunk that idea.
We eventually came to terms with the idea of having a single bunny because Guinness was happy being a single bun and we spoiled her rotten. Plus, it meant we didn’t have to go through the long process of caring for two unfixed bunnies who were male and female (and thus had to be completely separated for a long period) and then the additional process of trying to bond them. Plus, the fees of spay and neuter alone is $200-300 each is a lot, as well as the fact each getting their own checkup fee would add up. Plus, we consoled ourselves with the fact that black animals are more likely to be dumped and, considering how much of a handful Guinness was getting with the hormones, we figured it was better us than someone else who got Guinness.
…Then someone surprise-gifted us with Bleu (BAD idea, even if it had an ultimately positive result) and that was a whole other adjustment period xD.
