Well, to my utter disappointment, it didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. First of all, the upper floor became too hard to navigate for Pip (Mimzy didn’t even try it) and for fear that she would break a nail, a leg or just land too hard (usually on Mimzy) I decided to close it off.
Then she just WOULD NOT SETTLE. Mimzy was thrilled, “Oh boy Mum, you gave me my bunny buddy to sleep wif!” and was binkying and his eyes were sparkling like I haven’t seen before and, of course, he thought it best to reaffirm his dominance by chasing her around a bit and trying to mount. This frazzled Pippi no end, and finally she would just hike up to the shelf and sit there with the MOST DISAPPROVING look on her face. She was NOT happy.
Mimzy seemed to realize this. He noticed that if he even tried to approach her, and she heard him coming, she’d suddenly race around and land on him and push him out of the way to get away from him…so HE CHANGED TACTICS (I was astonished to see this!) and would either totally sit still or quietly approach and put his head down for a groom. But it was nothing doing with her, she’d take off again and hide on the shelf. Finally I gave up and tried putting her in the top shelf, but it was too small a space by itself. So I clipped the bars apart and rebuilt her pen and placed it on top of Mimzy’s again. (Needless to say, he is still bummed out today as a result.)
Pip immediately settled in her own pen and looked at me with half closed eyes (she was thoroughly exhausted from running all over) and her face just read “Oh THANK you Mum!” in no uncertain terms.
I am very disappointed.
The idea for the pen just came to me. But I can see now they are going to have to live in a space that is unfamiliar to both of them for it to work. There will be no other way.
lolz…my wallpaper. Those handprints on the wall are from my kids when we first moved here. Daddy thought it would be nice if they could decorate their own room in watercolors. That was 13 years ago. There are feet and hands and smears all over that wall. I haven’t the heart to wash it off and repaint the room.
My posters are a lifelong collection. And the smaller pictures I printed out on my computer. I love my desktop wallpapers and so I tend to put my favorites on hard copy. ^^
Soooo….the honeymoon is on hold until I can come up with a better plan.
Did I mention that I was SO disappointed??
