If you haven’t picked them up yet, ask for a small amount of painkiller to take with you (usually metacam) in case there is any sign of pain – unless the vet offers it to you automatically. Ask for a small syringe, too. Just a precaution that may not be needed, but if there is any discomfort, it will be in the first 24 hrs. or so.
Keep everything on one level for a few days, like take down platforms or anything they like to jump on. Jumping puts a strain on the healing site, so being less active is helpful. Change of appetite is not unusual, also resting, so don’t be too alarmed.
Watch for redness, swelling or oozing at the site. If so, call the vet asap. feel free to call the vet with any and all questions! That’s part of the service.
If you need to examine the site and have trouble, hold a treat up just above the nose so bunny has to stand up to get it. While doing so, lay a hand mirror on the floor next to the bunny’s feet and check out the wound by looking down into the mirror. It’s a good clear view without picking up or struggling. Then let bunny eat treat! Hope they did well.
