So today was the day that we went down the shelter and visited among the bunnies. Needless to say after all the driving I’ve done this morning, I am beat. Laurana met five buns, and while three of the five were contenders for us to bond too, I’ll explain more although I don’t have any pictures.. I didn’t get those.
The Dates:
The first bun that she met was named Darth Vader an american mix, my fiancee who went with me wanted her to meet this bun. Which she did, we also figured out that most likely she’ll be the dominant bun in the relationship which is okay unless its a bigger than her bun. She liked Darth Vader but she sniffed and they ran around each other for a bit, so he is one of the contenders that she liked. It wasn’t love at first sniff or sight but hey it can be worked with.
The second bun was named Alistar “Mad-eye” Moody. He is blind in one eye so my heart went out this bun. However, Laurana definetely did not like him at all since he was more skittish about surrounds and her. so it was nips and bunny fur for this bun.
The third bun was a beautiful dutch mix named Rudolph. Laurana liked him, in fact she chinned him several times while they sniffed out each other and he presented his head to her for grooming. She gave him a few licks and the person who is doing the bonding said that she probably going to be a butt and side nipper more than a face and such.
The fourth bun was named Leeloo and the only girl bun that we looked at. She was a beautiful big bun with REW eyes. However, Laurana did not like her one bit, so that bun was a bust.
The fifth and final bun was Picasso Dayhopper. This was the only bunny that she would be submissive to because of size. While a big loveable bun, we both knew that if there was a fight, it would be a big ouchies either for us, the bonder or our bun. While perfectly loveable, she wasn’t over enthused with him.
Now after all of the meeting, we narrowed it down to two choices and put them back within the pen with her to see her reaction with them again. Again with Darth Vader, she was more aloof which is a good thing and he was very calm with her. However, we tried Rudolph again, and again since she chinned him before, she did it again or at least a little bit of swipe. So we decided that Rudolph the little dutch mix was the one to try with. Overly all, I can say this, it was a very pleasant experience even if the drive was a bit long.
