Thar She Blows!

We were just discussing how some foods or times of year designate a full on shed or molt in bunnies…well…

Pip has gone into coat blowing mode. I was cleaning her up today and brushed my hand over her pelt…tufts start coming out like stink from her right rear flank. >.< Oh boy...this is probably going to set the other two off as well (hopefully Mimzy's bald spot will grow out) and all this the first week we have the new dog home. 0_o;;;

I’ll take pix tomorrow. It looks awful. Several layers of growth are already in progress and it looks so mismatched it’s sad. The fur is rough at the tips too, not like her usual soft coat.

I was thinking the smell of the dog on my hands was what made Pip take a snap at me the other day (although I wash like a surgeon) but if she’s losing her fur, this is more likely the reason for her unusual grumpiness.

*breaks out the dust masks and lint rollers*

M&M are in shed mode too… Monkey is not impressed. She has a ghetto booty again hehehe

We’re there with Lola and Toby. When I turn on the ceiling fan in the bunny room, this little white cloud floats away from Lola and a black one from Toby. Lola’s a rex so it’s awful grooming her and she hates plucking. Toby’s just a short hair and he tends to rub it off on the knobby type cotton rug in his condo.

Oh rex hair is THE WORST! I’ve never seen anything stick to my hands and face like it! And the grumpiness of the shedding rex or mini-rex is exponentially greater than other bunnies! 0_o

I wonder if a new dog in the house could bring on a shed. *everyone, blow fur at him until he leaves*

lolz….They’d have to have been anticipating Jenna’s arrival. I can see now this has been coming on for awhile.
She hates when I tug the loose ones. And the fur coming in is all wonky lengths and coarse…not very nice fur at all.
Poor Mimz is down below and the ‘fallout’, so to speak, is coming right down on top of him. >.<

I just did a quick vaccuum under the bed and the amount of fine gray fur that I inhaled is indescribable!

Like I said, Coco has been a Half molt for a good month, so you can see a line around her middle where she hasn’t completed the molt and she looks just awful – Like Mangy Street bun!

These were after yesterday’s grooming session, where I removed the equivalent of about 10 other bunnies from her backside….

I felt like mine shed forever this last time! I was vacuuming like three times a week and felt like every item of clothing/blanket etc that I owned was fur covered no matter what i did! I was calling them my little furminators…hehe.

Bun just started shedding too, she looks silly right now. Poor Bunzilla.

I think I went a little overboard with the furminator, Pip’s fur looks terrible right now. All long and short ends jumbled together. And the butt fluff just WON’T let go!
