        Hi y’all!

My bun is a 5 and a half month old Netherland Dwarf who was neutered about a month ago so his hormones should be calmed down by now. He is great with his litterboxes but for some reason, whenever I let him free roam, he always finds his way on my bed to poop or pee. I’ve tried putting a litterbox up there with no luck. He’s even figured out how to jump over his xpen to eventually dirty my bedding as well. With this being said, it’s almost impossible to make my bed inaccessible to him.

I’ve started “pushing” his head down whenever he jumps on to assert my dominance. And when he inevitably poops (only about 5 mins after being on the bed), I put him straight in his litterbox in his cage and lock him away for timeout.

Any training tips to get my bun to stop pooping and peeing on my bed? Thanks!

Why…?  Rabbits and humans do not need to establish hierarchy. It doesn’t work like that.

Bunnies often like peeing on soft things, that’s why beds are sometimes off limits. Even neutered and otherwise perfectlylitter trained buns might still pee and poop on bedding.

My only suggestion would be to cover the bed with something like a shower curtain (or two). I assume he is not in there unless you are, you wouldn’t want to leave a bun unattended around plastic.

Dont push his head down; he will only see you being mean to him and it might get to a point it will train him to be aggressive. Likewise, rabbits do not understand the concept of time out, they only know you caged them but wont understand why. Rabbits are not like dogs, cats, or children. If he is toileting somewhere you dont want him to, deep clean it then bunny proof it after. Rabbits also like to toilet on soft things, so all soft things, such as beds, need plastic covers or to be completely blocked off so the bun cant access it.

Rabbits do not see humans in their totem. You will never be dominant over him, and he will never be dominant over you.
