        Okay so here’s what happened.
I was getting a bin out of closet (Bandi’s pen is right near it) and another bin fell from the shelf and onto the floor. The bin had some candles in it and a bbq lighter. After it happened Bandi started running around like crazy and her eyes were huge.
She was running into things and then she would stop and start thumping. We finally thought she stopped after a few seconds when her eyes were huge and she was thumping but she started again and ran straight for one end of the pen. I went to take the blanket out o the enterancs of the hideout she has as I knew she would want to hide in there. The next thing I knew she ran into the bars and her head got a little stuck and she was trying to get out and jumping and making it worse. I was able to get her out by just touching her head but she screamed when I did and coninited to run around the entire pen.
She finally slowed down and went inside the hideout, continuously thumping. She’s starting to slow down on the thumping but is still doing it every now and then. I think she’s still terrified. I just don’t know what to do or know if she’s hurt or anything. I’m thinking I should take her to the vet just to be safe but she’s terrified of me. I’m leaving her alone now but I just want to double check that she isn’t hurt. I wouldn’t want anything g bad to happen to her. She’s a Dwarf Hotot and is just a little over three months old. Any suggesting / ideas?

Hi! Oh my, what a scary ordeal! I hope she’s ok. It’s good that you are letting her settle down for now. The only thing that concerns me is the scream, so I think a visit to the vet would be a good idea to check for any injuries. Though I’m not sure if it would be better to give her more time to calm down so that she doesn’t get extra stressed from going to the vet, or if she should go right away?

Yeah like it scared me pretty good when she did that, I’ve had other bunnies make that noise when they’re scared in the past but just because her head was stuck between the bars of the pen it concerned me. She seems to be settling down, she won’t run back into the hideout at the sound of my voice anymore so some progress! I did call the local vet and explained the situation to see what they think. They said I shouldn’t be concerned unless I notice that her neck hurts (if I pet her and she doesn’t like it or shows signs of pain) or if she stops eating or pooping (which I already knew that wasn’t good). I believe she’s already been in and out of the litterbox and she was sniffing out her food so I’m assuming she was also eating. Was just a scary situation to happen to her.

I’d recommend for you to leave her alone for a bit, and observe from a distance.
Gary continuously tips boots over on himself and scares himself silly.
We give him a few treats after a bit to calm him down, and monitor his movements for a bit to make sure he wasn’t hurt (You never know, zippers can hurt)

They can scream when they’re terrified. My bunny Yohio screamed when i caught him outside (he was a stray bunny so I had to try and catch him). He was otherwise completely fine. He also screamed once when I had to pick him up to give him meds, he was really tired of getting meds. (After the medicine ordeal we were, for some strange bunny reason, very tightly bonded).

I think you should wait with a vet visit until she’s calmed down. It’s scary to be transported to the vet, and she’s already scared. Give her her favorite food and monitor appetite and poop. Speak in a calm voice like you would to a baby (pets respond well to high pitched childlike voices according to research) and keep the room rather quiet and dimly lit, but preferably stay with her in the room.

@ bam – Wick and I bonded a lot because of his medication ordeal. It may be stress-bonding, haha.

Wick, I’ve been thinking that same thing (great minds…=D)
It is so weird, but it seems like it’s pretty common with bunnies. I was certain he’d hate me forever, instead he started to sleep at the foot end of my bed!

She’s not as scared anymore. Some noises that she hears all the time will spook her but other than that she seems fine. She’s eating now, but her poops are not formed and are all like long and sticky? Those started after the scare so I’m assuming that it should go back to normal soon? I just got home from a doctors appointment so they might be normal again already. But just thought I’d update

Bandithebunny, I’m editing my post because I missed your last message. I’m glad your bunny is fine- I think her GI system is a little upset due to the stress. As long as she is eating well and starts making normal (or more normal) poops within the next few hours, she’s probably fine. However, it never hurts to call the vet and ask.

About the bonding, same thing happened with me and Luke! After his first molar spur trim, I had to give him round the clock syringe feedings and meds, and he would hide and run from me and squeak pitifully when I picked him up. But since then he’s been so attached to me, and loves to get petted by both my husband and I, whereas before he would often run. We are on Round 2 with the teeth and yesterday he would shake whenever I touched him, so we’ll see if the bond holds!
