So i’m a little concerened b/c I know about how if buns don’t chew and wear down their teeth, they will grow up. Since Boston is sick and not out running around and playing, she isn’t chewing, besides on her hay and carrots that we feed her. I put one of her chew toys in her cage last night and she chomped a little at it.

When should I be concerned if her teeth are an issue. Will I be able to tell if they are getting too long?

If she is chewing on hay that should be fine. None of my rabbits chew on chew toys and they don’t have dental problems.

The only dental problem I have had with any rabbits was molars spurs from misaligned molars – he chewed on hay but still had problems.

I also had a vet who was really good at looking inside rabbits mouths with his otoscope and he was good at seeing high-sided (I think that’s what he called them) molars but I could never tell with just their eating habits.

Usually if they start drooling or change their eating habits – like stop eating pellets or the pellets “drop” out of their mouth – then you could possibly have dental problems.

Usually dental problems seem to show up in adult rabbits rather than young rabbits unless the young rabbits have maloclussion.
