Hello all, I know I asked about teeth noises before but bear with me.  I noticed today that Inkblot kind of clicks her teeth together.  It isn’t a grinding noise.  It is more like when you open and close your mouth and your teeth click together.  Is this a sign of pain?

Yes I’m total freak out.  I don’t know how to read pain in rabbits so I’m always concerned she is in pain…

Sounds like a purr. They can sometimes do this when dozing. I think you’ll know when she’s in a bad way – they’d be several pointers to pain.  Do you hear he do this now and then, or is it more continuous?

I heard it quite a bit. I wouldn’t say it is continuous but usually if I sit here long enough I’ll hear it again.  I guess I heard it quite a bit because I’ve been sitting with her pretty much all day long.

If she’s in her normal napping posture, I don’t think you have to worry. The grinding of teeth is apparently quite loud and can be a sign of severe pain. One would hope we’d notice other things not right before it reaches that point.

I was just lying on the floor watching her and maybe it’s not clicking… The noise seems to be when she opens her mouth. So maybe it’s the bottom teeth rubbing against the back the top teeth.

I do watch my bunnies sort of do a purr while they are relaxing, but if this is continious and loud enough to hear if you are not sitting right with her then there could be something wrong – also, forgive me if I am wrong, but weren’t there some other problems going on with her? If so, this may be related.. I have to go back an look at your other posts.  Is there anything else that you are noticing?  Does she seem uncomfortable. I don’t want to make a mountain out of molehill, but I just want to be sure what you are actually seeing is purring, not a pain grind.

She has cancer so it could be related. She has been sitting and lying down today (it was very hot today). I saw her flopped down and napping earlier. It doesn’t seem like pain. She’s still chowing down on all her favorites.

I’m so sorry she has cancer. I was going to say to watch if she’s in a meatloaf position, possibly hunched down, and not eating or pooping.
Since she has the disease, it wouldn’t hurt to call your vet and just ask if there’s something you should watch for that’s a signal to bring her in.

Usually a faint little clicking noise isn’t all that bad – my bunnies do that sometimes when they are doing their tooth purrs and they make little clicking noises. If it is really loud then I would be concerned. Considering Inkblot’s health issues though, it might not hurt to give the vet a call and see if that would make him/her at all concerned and if you should bring Inkblot it. But I would say in a normal chain of circumstances, a faint clicking is generally related to tooth purring, whereas a loud tooth grinding or clicking noise is a sign of pain.

My boy bunnies do tend to click their teeth quite often. They are always in a comfortable position and seem content, no hunching or other obvious signs of pain.
I was also surprised by how loud it can be at times. But then my mini rex makes a LOT of noises I never knew a bunny could make! ^_^
