During Thumper’s grooming sessions, sometimes she will stop what she is doing, looking up, and making what sounds like a chattering sound with her teeth.  It sounds kind of like her teeth are chattering but she’s not cold, or like she’s biting something hard.  It only lasts for a couple of seconds, but I just wonder what it is she’s doing and if it’s normal.  She only does this while grooming and every few minutes.

Sounds like a tooth-purr.  “Mmmm – more pls!”

I’ve heard her tooth-purrs, and this is much louder… Also, when I said grooming, I meant her grooming herself. It could be a form of tooth-purring, it just sounds different to me. Also, I’ve never known her to tooth-purr about something she did to herself, though it is possible…

I guess it sounds more like someone cracking a nut with their teeth than anything else. Three or so loud clicks of the teeth.

Do you think she is grinding her teeth — which rabbits will do when they like something – petting usually?

No, it does not sound like teeth purring and it happens when she is grooming herself, sometimes when she is just running around exploring things.

It sounds to me like a happy noise!

It probably is, I’ve just never heard or read anything about another bun doing it before. Maybe it is just another form of teeth-purring, although it sounds more like a clicking noise.
