I was reading about how some people use ceramic tile to help keep their bunnies cool. I wish I had thought of that with Yin & Yang, I wouldn’t have been sick so much because of air conditioning.
Then I was working on my daughters computer and it struck me. Water cooling!
Decide what size you want your pad to be (in my case it will be 12″ x 24″) and cut a piece of plywood to dimension.
Build a frame around it to give yourself at least a half inch depth.

Use 0.24″ copper tubing to create something like a refrigerator coil inside the frame, make sure both ends go through the frame. Vinyl tubing will work too, it is less expensive and easier to work with but less efficient at heat transfer.

Then poor concrete on it and level it. You could leave it at that for the pad but you may like to tile it or use your imagination.

Next, attach vinyl tubing to the ends and run them to your reservoir attaching one to a pump. Do becarfull and make it so you bunns cant get to the tubing as it exits the cage.

When picking your reservoir make sure it is large enough to add some pop bottles of frozen water.

Optionally you could make an closed circuit alcohol cooling system and add a radiator and fan to it.

If you decide to remove the frame use extra caution with the boards that have your input and output running through them.

I hope this helps somebody, especially those that have Air conditioning allergies.

Holy Cow! I am feeling like a rather pathetic human right now… With this and your cage building, there needs to be a show/magazine called “This Old Habitat” (instead of This Old House) and you need to be the host.

If you make this for your bunnies, be sure to post it!
