Indy’s neuter area looks good except for well…one bit looks empty and one looks swollen. He’s ticked off at me for looking and went under the bed. Should I call the vets and take him in for another antibiotic shot or something?

Maybe it’s irratated from him jumping into the box and eating hay…

Keep an eye on it tonite, if it gets more swollen, or turns red or starts leaking, then definitely callt eh vet. You could always just call them in the morning anyway to ask about it. Phone calls are free

Yea I’m calling them in the morning, just wanted to know if swelling could be expected or is really really bad?

Well, if you were a guy and got your bits cut off, I suspect you’d swell a bit

I would call the vet- some swelling can occur and they might recommend compresses.  And eventually the sacs will shrink until they are hardly noticeable- especially the younger they are neutered.  The more active the pet after surgery- usually increases the possibility of swelling.

When my dog finally got neutered this last summer,he swelled up pretty bad and I had to run him back in to get some antibiotics. I’d just call the vet anyway to see if there’s anything else you should be doing, but I think in general some swelling is to be expected.
Better safe than sorry. (((((((((healing vibes for Indy)))))))))))))))

Yeah I told them I was kind-of bad about “keeping him quiet.” I think Day 2 he was doing laps in my room when I let him out of his cage to clean his litter tray. Full out zooms…I had huge deer in headlight eyes and was like “WOOOOOOOOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING??” The swelling is going down, he’s eating and drinking like a King. I called them said I shouldn’t worry since I told them it was going down. I can always bring him in if it changes. But it’s most likely since I was bad at locking him in his cage.

I’m more surprised that he had the chutzpah to run around like that! 0_o
Indy sure is a strong little guy. ^_^

Well he did have me really worried when they told me he couldn’t get him to eat. But 10min later we come home and I stick my hand in the crate with a raisin it get’s nom’d. *rolls eyes* I’m worried about getting my females done – I need to call them back anyways to see what the difference is if I pay them to do it rather then going through the humane society. Obviously the price difference but what else? So I’ll see if I go through them directly for Bun or do the voucher again.

Females are definitely not as active the first day. Monkey lazed around. And I didn’t let her zoom around, she stayed in her cage for the first bit, then in a shrunken pen for a bit after that.

I know…I shouldn’t have let him do that. That night he actually escaped because I left his “sheet roof” undone and I didn’t think he would try to get out, he seemed really tired. I don’t know how he got out – i guess he climbed the willow tent because I took his “loft” out. *rolls eyes* He’s such a maniac.

Well as we speak he is sitting in the box from BB eating hay. Even though there is tons in his cage. Must taste better from the box. I need to put it away in a container before it goes all over my room lol. He’s great, drinking and eating lots, incision looks good, very little swelling! Thank you for asking

Eh don’t feel too bad. I’ve seen dog owners at our dog park with a freshely neutered dog (three days)-males just bounce back so quickly it’s hard to keep them quiet

I know there was someone on here who had something similar and the testicle sac had actually filled with fluid and had to be drained. It’s an uncommon side effect. But doesn’t sound like that’s the case since your buns’ swelling has gone down. Very glad to hear it’s going down and doing better.

Katnip was saying that the testicle will shrink and be almost unnoticable. I have four boys (three bunny boys and one doggie boy) and other then the obvious you could not tell they are male-it shrinks right away wonderfully

You guys need to really ream me hard if I let my girls get away with zooming. But I am sure they won’t feel like it at all. Unlike Dr. Jones over here. Yeah because he is shaved I can still see them :p
