        Hi there,

Rex (my bunny) is using Aspen Shavings by EasyClean right now for litter. I find Aspen Shavings very hard to clean, and it isn’t very absorbent. I want to switch him off of that to possible a paper litter, maybe litter pellets or something else that would also be a reasonable price. I have found one from PetSmart, for $18.49 CAD, its called ExquisiCat Naturals Paper Cat Litter. It is Scent/Fragrance-free and is in pellet form. Do you think this is a good one, or is there a better kind of absorbent – also reasonably priced rabbit litter?

Don’t bother with Petsmart 😉  You can get horse stall pellets at feed stores like Tractor Supply, $6 for 40 lbs. Works great and you can’t beat the price.

Ditto Hazel! Horse stall pellets for the win!

Oh thank you so much!!! We have a TSC like 20 minutes away,  where we get goat feed and other stuff… The next time we go there, I will definitely pick up some horse stall pellets! I search it up on the Tractor Supply website, and the pellets are softwood. Here is a picture.

              Is this safe for them?

I think the one commonly used comes in a green bag, it’s Tractor Supply’s own brand. But yes softwood pellets are safe because the drying process removes harmful phenols.

We use a combination of shavings (on top) and paper litter (below). We’ve been very happy with it. The shavings seem more amenable to the rabbit, though as you’ve noted, they’re not very absorbent, which is why we use brown paper underneath.
