Dorian is going through his molts and I am noticing his usual round and fluffy bunny butt is now sunken looking and his hip bones feel more prominent.  I tried weighing him, and his weight is about what it was at his last vet visit.  Maybe not the most accurate as I picked him up and stood on the scale. He has his usual energy levels and is eating (actually his appetite is a bit up). I may just be worrying about nothing, but it is visible enough my son commented on it. Oh and his poops are all good, other than a couple conjoined ones we just can’t seem to avoid during molting.

I tend to notice this on Bun Jovi while he’s going through a molt as well. I always start worrying that he’s dropped weight, but then when the molt is over he is back to normal (both in appearance and how his hips feel). I think the loss of the undercoat can really make things feel and look sharper.

I think I would just keep weighing him every couple weeks through the end of his molt so you can get a sense of whether anything is changing with your home scale.

Thanks Dana! I have been plucking him a lot and combing him every other day as he hates it, so I am probably more hands on as well. I’ll just keep an eye on the scale and his behavior.
