Stupid hateful, pet store owner!

Hey everyone!  I just had to share this story!

I went to my local pet supply store the other day to purchase litter.  The owner of the store started asking me ?’s.  I told him I was litter training my rabbit.  He was sooooo STUPID!  He’s one of these guys who thinks he knows “everything” about every kind of animal.  He laughed at me having a rabbit, and said they make horrible pets! He said rabbit’s are not “inside” animals and should be kept outside in a hutch!  And went on and on about how they don’t “do” anything.  Anyways I had to set him straight!  And put the litter down. (i decided to buy from another store) Then to top it all, as I made my way back to the front of the store He was selling Easter Bunnies!!!! I was sooooooo angry!  I asked him, if they were such horrible pets why was he selling them.  He said cause it’s that time of yr, and people want them!  Ugh what a tool!

what an idiot.  i’m glad you didn’t buy litter from him.  know-it-all people like that are a waste of time imho, but it’s good you said your piece.  you never know when some small point will sink through a thick defensive skull.

It may not work…. but it sure sounds like that pet store owner needs to learn more about rabbits! Good for you to help educate him and also not support his bad attitude by taking your business elsewhere.

perhaps you could print out some information about house rabbits to mail to him at the store?

being a staunch supporter of rescue efforts, i really try to never buy items in stores that sell bunnies or other animals.

Ronda Gene – I agree you should send some information. When you were talking to him about your knowledge, did he just ignore you or what was his response to you? And when you left, did he say anything?

He obviously is only going to spread poor information which will put all of the bunnies he’s selling at risk. Brilliant.

Here’s yet another story about pet shop owners knowing nothing about animals!  It makes my blood boil!  So many of them are just in it for the business and not the welfare of the animals!  Awful awful awful!!!!!

ddi you get his name call and speak with the store mgr. let him know and he will most likely educate and reprimind that employer I certainly wouldn’t want a dense dork like that workign for me. if he was the store mgr find the district mgr. good grief I hope dense dork isn’t the store mgr. whats the world coming too agh. bunny attack this dufus

yeah, i agree with bunnytowne.  i’d go up higher than him if possible and complain.  i’m glad you bought your litter somewhere else.

you should report his pet store! i bloody would! i reported a pet store the other week because they had 2 medium buns in 1 guinea pig cage and the guinea pigs had no water at all i was mortified i complained as soon as i got home!
last night i was carrying my bun in his carry box home from visiting my nan and this group of idiot chavs said ‘ohh like ur cat man’ i went ‘its not a funking cat you imbecile’ and it was just a immediate reaction like someone had just called my kid ugly lol i was on my own as well and there was like 15 of them and i really regretted it after i said it cuz i thought omg what if they follow me home?! but i couldnt help it no-one can diss my baby!!

The only issue with this pet store owner is that he seemed to indicate he only carries buns during Easter season. He may not have them other times of the year. Hence his ignorance of buns.

hey yall!  Unfortunately this was not a chain pet supply store. It is privately owned by the jerk in question.  It’s not a “pet” store, just a pet “supply” store.  (food, litter, cages, etc)  But obviously he jumps on the Easter Bunny band wagon at easter time.  Well, as I’m sure yall know I’m a new bunny parent.  I’m not nearly the expert that you guys are.   But I did a lot of reading before and after the adoption of “cookie”.   I did share some of the info that I’ve gathered here and from other websites.  And also told him of my experiences with cookie.  I also wrote down this website and gave it to him and told him to give it to the people who buy his bunnies.  (but I’m sure he just chunked it in the trash)  During my whole spill, he just looked at me like I was crazy.  And he actually laughed!  And boy was he mad when I dropped the litter and refused to purchase it from him!  I felt so sorry for those bunnies, and even thought about buying them myself to give them a good home.  But realized that I don’t have enough room for 3 more buns, or enough experience for multiples right now. And didn’t want to risk having them brought from one bad place to another.  Make sense?  But on the upside he had them caged properly and was very clean in their cages, and seemed to be feeding them the right foods.   I just hope they make it to loving homes….       The poor lil guys.  Since I live in a SMALL town I’m limited to Wal-mart for now for my pet supplies.  And the Tractor supply store.     But however I have printed out some info, and I’m gonna drop it by one day soon.  It’s really like he thinks bunnies are like fish, just to be looked at.  Or like they have no soul or something. Ugh, I think people can be sooooo discusting!  Honestly I think of ALL animals just as I do my 2 children.  They all deserve love and kindness.  But I was brought up to be that way, my Mama and me always took in wild animals that needed a lil tlc. LMAO People around here call me Ellie May Clampet!
