Can I give Franz my Streptococcal pharyngitis? You can give it to dogs and vice versa. Hasn’t been studied too much but it happens. I gave Franz a grape yesterday from my mouth and today I have strep so…I want him to be well!

I just looked it up on google and I found on the site American Rabbit Breeders that yes, you can pass strep over to Franz.

Also, there was a topic on bunspace that said, yes, strep can be passed from human to rabbit. The poster goes on to say to call your vet to be sure

Some bacterial diseases such as strep throat can be passed to a rabbit from an infected human. You’d want to ask your vet though if Franz would have symptoms and how they would manifest.

I talked to my vet she said not to share food from the mouth because our bacterial flora is different from an herbivore and can be bad for him. Also to just watch to see if he gets sick. His neuter is on the 21st and she will check him up in the morning before. She’s a really great vet.
