        Yet another question >.<

For the past two days I’ve notice that occasionally when shes playing in her play pen that she will sit and twitch her head for about a minute or so and sometimes she seems to get a bit bothered by it and does her crazy running around then sits and sort of twitches again

I’m not sure if its the right word to describe it, it sort of looks like hiccoughing/hiccupping

        is this bad?

        Thank you

It could be a couple of things from ear mites to an itchy ear to “Woo-hoo! Time to go craaaaaazy!!!!” Bean almost always does the “crazy bun headshake” right before speed-bunny runs or binkys. Check out the “Language of Lagomorphs” site – http://language.rabbitspeak.com/rabbittalk.html to see if that’s what you’re seeing.

P.S. Typing this much takes a long time when your left hand is occupied with bun-pets!

Is it back and forth or up and down?
            Is she white?
Do her eyes do that as well? (Get close and look at them-again same question if they are-is it up and down or left to right?)

A couple of things come to mind.

One is many rabbits with compromised vision (not blind) often red eyed white-do an up and down motion. It seems to be them trying to see better. That one is quite common.

The other thing that comes to mind is an intentional tremor (we are actually sorting that out in my bun right now) -he goes from left to right left to right-almost looks like he’s reading.

An intentional tremor can have many causes or be idiopathic (no cause) and the way it works is:
Say you have an intentional tremor in your hand. When you are sitting and doing nothing-there is no tremor. But when you grab for a doorknob there is a tremor-so it’s only when doing something.
So for my bun, what we are thinking is that it’s when he is moving his head *intentionally* the tremor kicks in.

But I’m going on and on. It very much depends on if it’s up and down or left to right, as well as if the eyes are also moving; and probably the best thing to do is see a good vet soon.

I agree with all the possibilities that K&K and Quantum mentioned – is it possible she is sneezing? Usually you can tell because it really sounds like a sneeze, and then usually they try to wipe their nose with their paws.

It is an up and down/backwards and forwards twitch as if she is doing hicupps but she doesnt make any noise and no i dont think its sneezing and as far as i have noticed her eyes dont do it.

She is seeing the vet tomorrow for her third needle for ear mites because she had them when i got her, she sometimes does her crazy running cause of that but i dont think its for this reason now

Well it’s a good thing your seeing your vet See if you can take a video of her doing it-then if she doesn’t do it for the vet to see you could show her?

Rabbits do hiccup-sometimes just a couple, sometimes for a few seconds or even minutes-that could very well be it -Keep us posted!

There is something that is called a ‘half binky’ that involves only the head. It is another sign of happiness but they just don’t feel like doing the full blown ‘sproing’ of a binky.

Monkey often does a twitchy binky just before exploding into a full blown binky across the apartment one. She’s silly

Mine do that head-shake binky too – usually its a shimmy though and it goes from their head all the way to a bum shimmy

sophiee    it sounds like scanning.    Buns sometimes bob up n down to see better like Mr. Cotton Boo does    Others scan moving their heads from side to side slowly.   Also moving their heads helps them figure out the distance of objects since they have trouble with that.

A head shake usually means oh boy lets binky lets play.
