Every so often, maybe every few weeks or so, my bun does something strange. I’m usually alerted to it when I hear him causing a ruckus in his crate.

I think it always starts when he’s sleeping. It’s as if he sort of wakes up and just goes erratic. Jumps all over the place with no real sense of control or purpose.

Today, I only knew it was happening because I heard in from another room. I came in to find him straddling the edge of his litter pan just…there. One side in, one out, just dazed? Zoned out? It seems silly to describe it like this, being that he’s a rabbit, but he acts as if he had a nightmare or something.

I pulled the litter pan out from under him and he just slunk down off of it, uncontrolled, basically just letting his body fall where it may. I nudged him a few times and he finally sat up right. He’s now just sitting in his crate and seems fine.

Like I mentioned, he’s done this several times before. Besides the odd behavior that lasts maybe 5 minutes, he acts normal. There’s no pattern or consistency to it. He eats/poops/urinates just fine.

        Thoughts?

you need to take him to the vet ASAP, sounds like some sort of seizure.

I agree. I would take him to a vet. I know my bunnies go crazy running and jumping all over the place and even hop into things when they get energetic but this definitely sounds like more is involved.

It would be great if you can take a video of it to your vet but I wouldn’t wait until it happens again.

I hope things turn out ok!

I had a bunny that suffered from seizures and this sounds exactly like what she would do. I strongly suggest a vet.

                Thanks for the replies.

Those with buns that had seizures – how often would it happen? What happens if they are diagnosed with it?

I’ll definitely get him checked out. He’s flopped over super content right now. I’d hate to think that he has some sort of issue
