I have never seen a rabbit shed the way Stormy is right now! His face is shedding and he’s lost like half the fur but all in splotchy chunks. He really looks like a lionhead. His face is really skinny looking. It’s weird. He looks like a whole other rabbit or like he got in a really bad fight!

Any other Rex slaves have this situation before?

Can you post a picture? I’m having a difficult time imagining what you describe.

I’ll try to get some pics of him tonight. Don’t make fun of him!!!! I’ve been calling him “Funny Fur”.

This couldn’t be some sort of side effect to some ailment could it? I’m just worried because he’s never shedded like this before. Usually he loses the fur on his face very gradually and you only notice a little bald spot on the top of his head or on his cheek.

I don’t know really… Meadow just gets the shed lines that move up her face and then down her back… altho isn’t she younger than Stormy (she’s approximately 3.5…)?

Oh shoot… that just reminded me… I blanked out on her Bunniversary yesterday! She’s been with us 3 years!

I think it could be the tremendous heat you have been experiencing to trigger this wild shed.

when my bunnies shed I often refer to what they look like as “ring around the bun”- especially Cotton who is shaded colored and her new hair grows in a titch darker usually.

My rabbit Toffee is shedding this way too right now – I can’t remember the last time she has molted like this. She looks pretty funny. And she’s grumpier than usual too.
