So, Stormers and I set out for Purcellville at 7 AM this morning, briefly stopping at the barn to swipe some hay for him to munch on in the car.
We arrived in Purcellville at 7:50. Our appointment was 8:40. Whoops. I forgot that I was going against the traffic headed into DC. They let us in anyway, and Stormy sat on my shoulder (his favorite place) while I filled out paperwork. I “groomed” him and watched Pet Stars on the tv. When it was halfway done, we got called into the room, where the vet tech took him and placed him on the scale. He instantly periscoped, wondering what was in this new room. His weight was 2 lbs, 10 oz. As soon as she read the measurement, he decided he was done looking around and returned to his mama’s shoulder.
Vet tech left, and I shivered for a few minutes while he sat in my lap. Vet came in, talked to me briefly, and checked him out. His teeth have tiny, tiny little spurs in back, but not enough to warrant putting him under anesthetic just to do that. She said when he comes in for his neuter, she’ll do it while he’s already under. Other than that, he’s a healthy little boy! Also, I now know that he is definitely a Netherland Dwarf. As soon as she released him after the exam, he launched himself onto my shoulder for comfort again. Good to know I’m a human security blanket. I talked to her about neutering him briefly, and she told me they do over 1000 rabbit speuters a year. Wow. I don’t think I can go wrong in a place with that much experience.
He zonked out in his pile of hay on the way home. It was so cute!
