This a fun post, and not an emergency by any stretch of the imagination, but I was wondering, does anybody else get the “stink eye” from their bunnies every now and again?

So my bunnies eat dinner around the same time every day: around mid afternoon-ish. The exact time will depend on what day of the week it is, but they’re pretty much used to a routine. On lazy Sunday afternoons (or Saturdays, it depends which day I get to have a lazy afternoon) I’ll probably leave their room gate open all day so that they can come and go as they please. Most of the time they stay in most of the morning, and come out some time in the early afternoon and flop over in some corner of the living room. So I don’t really bother putting out dinner until later when they’re more awake, or it’s closer to their actual dinnertime.

Today, like any other lazy Sunday afternoon, I left the gate open and plopped myself on the couch to watch t.v. and surf the web. All of a sudden, they ran out top speed and sat on their dinner spot looking straight at me. They had that look of “where’s dinner, and how come it’s not ready yet?!”  With my big guy it’s harder to see because he has dark eyes, but my little girl is an albino lionhead mix with the red/ pink eyes, and she gets this look of “well, I never!” that is just hilariously dramatic. I literally had to get up from the couch and say out loud: “Fine, fine, I’m making dinner, I’m making dinner.” They didn’t move from their spot until dinner came.

Anyway, I was just putting this out there, because I thought it was funny and I thought maybe someone else has had the same experience.

Haha, cute story. Yes the stink eye is real!!!!! I’ve gotten that many times. There is also the “bunny butt” as another way to show they are unhappy with us.

Oh yeah, I’ve gotten “bunny butt” more than a few times. The one where they sit facing away from you, but keep looking at you every now and again from the corner of their eye just to make sure that you know that they’re ignoring you…

By the way, your bunnies are so cute!

My longest vacation ever, 8 days, I got home thinking they would be so happy to see me. Nope…..the butt……2 of them!

Thank you. The first 2 little buns have sadly gone to the Bridge. I still have the little white lop, Bindi Loo and a big white Flemmie mix named Sterling.

Oh, sorry to hear that. It’s so hard when we lose them, isn’t it. I’ve had all kinds of animals as an adult, and every single time I’m heartbroken by their passing… My first bunny, Haru (Aki’s original partner before Elliot) passed away of kidney disease. He had been receiving subcutaneous fluids and he was doing well, but the doctor warned me that he wouldn’t live more than a year. All the same I cried like a little baby when he passed. But because he passed, I got to meet Elliot whom I adore, so I try to keep that in perspective.

And, yes, I know what you’re talking about being away and getting the bunny butt. I don’t make it a habit to break their routine, but even if I’ve just been getting home late for a couple of days, or have had to go out after feeding them, I get the bunny butt. Or they just completely ignore me like I just don’t exist. Cheeky cheeky critters! Lol!

I get the bunny butt at least 17 times per day. The stink eye, not so much. But definitely the bunny butt.

Panda is a grand mistress of the bunny butt. She gives it to me almost every time this peasant is impudent enough to offer Her Ladyship a pet on the forehead. Fernando is a lot more easy-going, but I’ve caught a fine stink-eye from him on occasion, usually caused by dawdling with the treats.

Yep, dawdling with the treats would do it! Lol! Bunnies are awesome (although in all fairness, I think most animals are awesome).
