ok this might sound weird or not nice but I knew from the start from reading what I have read and learned what i know baby buns are just not for me…….with a two year old son, 13 month old puppy, 5 year old bun a hubby I am finding Harely to be a turkey.

I know how much work baby buns are, as dora may she rest in piece was a dragon bit to draw blood and everything. But this little guy is not biting just seemin to start to charge at me and is BITING everything. At first it was jsut the litter box I tried putting toys and boxes and such it worked for a bit but now Harley is biting hles in the box all over like clear holes not just nibbles. Now today I come home from work talkin to Harley as that bun is on the top floor think nothing of it when my two year odl comes down and says mom Barney needs water( he called Harley that) and hands me the water bottle I findi it strange as I filled it in the morning. Harley had chewed a hole right through the water bottle AHHHHH

I am thinking that Harley will need to be fixed ASAP number one so Harley can be on the same floor as oreo and 2 I think he could be a turkey and might bit others like me.

I am just venting I tried to do this bun a favour so it wouldnt be snake food but I feel like i bit off more then i can handle, sorry just need to vent I am sure it is just a bad day but I feel like I am not doing enough or something . I know the plastic is not good for Harley but how so i stop it?? I have given toys eetc now I just dont know, I want  to build a NIC cube but not until Harley is on the main floor as oreo is down there and I know they might not get along.

Awe, I am sorry you having to deal with “hellish” Harley right now!  How long have you had  Harley, and how old is he?   You said you saved  him from being snake food – so that means he probably wasn’t socialized.  What were the circumstances in which you got him?  Where was he living, what was his habitat at the time?

You may have already gone through all of this in another post – sorry if I am not caught up!

Regarding him chewing on the water bottle – For now, can you switch to a crock instead of a waterbottle.   If you do go that route, you want to make sure to get a very “heavy” crock.   OH…just thought of something – can you position the water bottle so that only the nozzle is what he has access to by fastening the bottle part on the outside of the pen/cage?

Harley was super young when I got him way to young actually, it was at a live stock show. He is 10 weeks now or she still dont know lol Before that Harley lived in a barn they said he was handled lots but he or she is getting older and as soon as Harley can be fixed we are going to fix Harley already found a good vet etc. Its just I never had a chewer before or a very high spirted bun before. I love Harley dont get me wrong its just I have Oreo and he has always been very laid back and relaxed.

It was just a rough day yesterday lol

I honestly think that some rabbits are just more laid back and mellow than others.

I’ve only had a few experiences with baby rabbits and I’ve been lucky that the ones I rescued were very sweet rabbits and not terrors at all at least that I can recall.

buns are such individuals… but it’s natural to compare to what you’ve experienced in the past. a bigger, older bun will be more calm and mellow than a small baby (what breeds are Harley, isn’t he part dutch or am i thinking of someone else?) you will learn how to take care of Harley and hopefully post-neuter and as he gets older (1 year and on) he will calm down some. you did do the right thing by rescuing him from a bad situation, don’t doubt that.

Ah yes! Babies are Keeeyyyyuuute but oh so much work!!

Definitely we can all sympathize and no need to apologize for venting!

You might see if you can give the bunny more ‘out’ time, when he’s out of the cage? It may be difficult to bunproof as sounds like he gets into everything. Is there somewhere in the house he can have a bit more space to run without getting into anything? Sounds like hes just super full of energy!!

i definitely know the feeling– when I got my first girl, Honey, she was about 7 months, and well socialized. Then there’s Kit– he came from an unfortunate situation and is a challenge for me every single day. I never know what his mood is so I have to approach him carefully. and observe before I make any sudden movements.

He likes to bite, and chew just like your bun, I think maybe some buns are more inclinded to be chewers while others are uninterested in a chew toy.

                    Goodluckkkkkk! I sympathize greatly.
