Hi, so every time Stewart sees me he stiffs up as if I’m a predator trying to get him when I’m not like I could be minding my own business and then he sees me, and he’s stiff is this normal, or is there something I can do to make him feel safer?

How long have you had him?

The best thing to do is just ignore him when he does this. Eventually he will learn that you aren’t going to try to “get” him.

With my super timid buns I will spend time near them but focus on something else (like I’ll watch videos on my phone or read). It’s a way to show them that even though you are near them, you aren’t interested in hurting them.

Normal — I agree with @DanaNM that overtime, him getting exposure to your presence entering his field of view/sensory perceptions isn’t something threatening will lessen this immediate reaction. It has only been two months, so I wouldn’t read into it as a personality trait or anything.

Also remember that, like humans, when a rabbit is very chilled and used to the state of the space, anything new coming in (especially a large human!) can naturally make anything feel a bit startled! My Fable, who I’ve had for over two years now, is a more anxious bun and she still tenses if I burst into a room a bit too suddenly or when she’s in the middle of napping. It is nothing personal towards me, but just her anxious rabbit brain making her alert to sudden environmental stimulus.

Totally agree with Wick& Fable. When I moved my buns went through a few weeks of being very jumpy and easily startled by sounds that they didn’t used to react to!
