I’m upset . Suddenly,  bunny, who usually is extremely food driven (over toys) and is an eating machine, just today is not eating or pooing. He did take some blueberries, but that is all.  I know this is a red flag — but is there something I can do temporarily until I can  get him to Vet tomorrow?  I’m thinking “stasis”?
UPDATE:  Just noticed there ARE some poos in the litter but very very small. He’s just sitting in litter. Can someone help?
        Thanks soooo much.

Empty the litter pan so you can see when he next uses it. The best thing if try getting some greens (for the fluids) and hay into him. Even very dilute juice to encourage drinking. Also, try get him moving around. What is he acting like?

not sure where you live- but where I live a weekend or emergency visit is the same price Saturday night as Sunday during non-business hours.  If it has been going on for 12-24 hours your bunny needs to see a vet- call to find out if they see rabbits.

Does the bunnies belly seem bloated or bigger than normal- does the belly seem to cause pain?

Hi bunny_psychotic, I’m sorry your bunny is not 100%. I’m hoping your bunny gets better soon!

It sounds like your bunny is having some tummy issues. It could be Statis as well but the key is to monitor your bunny carefully. Like KatnipCrzy said, if it goes on longer than 12 hours your bunny needs to see a vet asap.

Bunnies don’t handle stomach pain well, so you need to make sure that their temperature does not drop and they are well hydrated. If their temperature drops too low they can go into shock.

Try to feel your bunny’s belly to see if it’s very firm or bloated. Note which parts bring your bunny discomfort.
You can try giving your bun a gentle tummy massage and getting your bunny to hop or run around (even though he or she may not want to).
              Offer lots of water.

If it’s gas, you can try simethicone (it’s used for infants and is safe for bunnies) which helps to break down those gas bubbles. Use 20mg/mL suspension (regular strength) and give 1-2 mL every 4 hours.

Have you done anything different lately? Different brand of pellets or anything like that??

                  How is he today?

I went through something similar last week — the recommendation’s above were basically the same thing that was said to me — great advice. Here are a couple more things I wish I had known more about:

                  – Really watch your bunny’s temperature. Mine ended up in hypothermic shock after being given cold fluids at the first vet I visited. Yeah. If your bunny’s temp is below 102, make sure he is given warm fluids (if you take him to the vet) or that you give him a hot water bottle to sit next to. I was told this saved my rabbit’s life when I ended up in the 24 vet with him later that night. If he’s shivering, you’re in an emergency situation and need to get him warmed up immediately.

                  – Keep him hydrated as best you can — I started soaking his greens in water once he’d recovered, which works really well.

                  – He was given metacam for pain, reglan for upper gi motility, and cisapride for lower gi motility. This combo worked really well for Peter after he was hydrated and over the acute stasis symptoms. He just finished the meds a couple days ago and is pretty much back on track.

I really hope everything ends up okay for your bunny — keep us posted. Sending good thoughts…
