        Hi everyone!

I had my 7 mo. old dwarf hotot neutered 3 weeks ago and I noticed that now whenever I get him out of his two story hutch, he would come to the door, I would get him out, and he would start squealing. This has never happened before surgery so I was wondering– do you think the vet/assistants frightened him too much? Just a thought.

Squealing is usually a sign of pain. Has he done this ever since you brought him home? I’d take him to the vet to get checked out. I could be wrong, but I have never heard of squealing in rabbits as any other than an indication of pain.

I think the squealing is something to be concerned about. I do not think the vet has done something .. It sounds like your little boy is in some sort of pain

He only squeals when I hold him and take him out of his cage. Only during that action of getting him out. When I actually hold him, he calms down. When I bring him to my room and put him down, he’s definitely normal&himself. This squealing thing never happened until after his surgery.

I’ll check his boy parts later when I go home!

                  Maybe he’s a little sore.

                    Perhaps.

I wouldn’t grab him. I would put a treat up to him and that way you can look at his stitches while he is on his hind legs.

If he is only squealing when you pick him up, that tells me he is sore. Which, after 3 weeks, isn’t typical. You may want to get a vet to check him over.

Ditto all. Bunnies don’t make noise-especially a squeal unless they think it’s life or death. All signs point to pain-even if it’s just when you pick him up-he could be in pain and it’s just worse when you pick him up. I really don’t think it’s a learned fear reaction from the vet clinic-not typical or even something I’ve ever heard of. A bunny squeal (scream) is dire…should go for a re-check and see how he’s healing.
