        Hi everybody 🐰

Yesterday I noticed one of my bunnies was bleeding from his mouth. I checked him out and  it looks like maybe his lip split by his bottom left front tooth. It stopped bleeding right away. He ate dinner last night and even had a fresh picked strawberry. It looked quite a bit better this morning but he doesn’t seem all that interested in eating, although he has eaten some. Has anybody had a bunny split their lip? I’m not really sure what I can do to help him. I’ve googled about split lips and mouth injuries and can’t really find much to help me. And advice would be appreciated!

My bun hurt her lip a while back (she was trying to jump onto the bed, but mistimed it), and it healed pretty fast. I monitored her and made sure she was okay with eating and drinking and stuff. It’s good that’s he’s eating, just keep monitoring him. An experienced medical member would have to chime in to tell you what you could treat his lip with… I’m not really sure

Thank you for replying! I called my regular vet on Friday and they weren’t able to see him until the 12th. I called every vet that I know of in my area that sees bunnies and was unable to find one that could see him. His lip looked a lot better Saturday then it looked pretty swollen on Sunday. I was able to take him to my second choice vet yesterday and he got two medications. The vet seemed to think it was an older injury that reopened. She said he’s young so the medications should help. If not, he will need to be sedated to have it cleaned out. Fingers crossed! He goes back to the vet on Thursday.

Your welcome! He goes back to the vet today, right? I’m sure everything will turn out okay. Hopefully the medications should help!

I don’t come on here very often! The morning before his appointment I picked him up to give him his medicine and his mouth was all better. Like it had never happened. 🙌 I called the vet and she said that as long as it had cleared up he didn’t need to be seen again. So happy I took him and the medicine helped and he got better so quickly! He’s been through a lot this year.
