Spending the night in emergency cage

We have to spend the night at my dad’s house on very short notice, b/c we have a moldy hole in our kitchen ceiling.  So, poor Porky is stuck spending the night in his emergency cage.  I’m torn between feeling sorry for him being in a tiny basic pet store cage, and being happy I have it so he isn’t stuck in a carrier, or makeshift cage.

Oh gosh Eepster, you know how I (no different to you) hate to restrict Henry when it’s not necessary…. But I am telling you now, if I was in your situation I wouldn’t hesitate! And I wouldn’t feel bad about it either.
I know I joke a lot about Henry and his antics around the house, but put me in a serious situation – I would/will grab Henry by the scruff to catch him
and put him in his plastic carrier to keep him out of harms way. I’d rather a grumpy bunny (not really, lol!) than a sick or injured bunny. As our bunny’s mum’s/carer’s it is our obligation to keep them out of harms way, and if a small carrier keeps them out of harms way and keeps them safe, so be it.
And Henry can’t guilt me anymore…. I’m wise to his antic’s!
I do feel a bit for Porky – he’s such a good/well behaved bunny! But I still wouldn’t hesitate or give it a second thought – do what you have too Eepster!

Andy, it’s funny that you mention how well behaved Porky is.

I went back to my house, and detatched Porky’s porch from his condo and bought a floor mat. I set it up as a pen around his emergency cage so he could get out and hop around. Since the set up was too big for my dad’s den, I set it up down in the guest suite my nephew usually stays in when he visits.

I don’t know if it’s b/c it smells like teenage boy, b/c it’s near a window where wild bunnies and other wildlife hang out a lot, or if it’s the floor mat we got, but Porky is marking all over it. Dark urine that smells heavily of musk all along the fence. Little piles of marking poops in all the corners. The musk smell is so strong you’d think I had a skunk or ferret. It’s so male smelling. Whatever the trigger is, he feels like he really needs to make his dominance known in a way he never has before.
