It has been Acorn and I for two years. He lives in my room with me and for the most part he seems to be happy. I have noticed that he likes to sit under my bed in the same spot for long periods of time. I have tried to adjust things to ensure he is happy but can’t help but wonder if I should get him a friend? It is kind of nice only having one baby to worry about. But would it be better for him to have a friend? I’m concerned that he may not actually want a friend sense he has been on his own for so long. I have found a shelter that said he could come “speed date” or see if their is a rabbit he clicks with best. But they only have 5 rabbits there. Any thoughts or advise is appreciated!!

Honestly it all depends. There’s a lot of factors involved. Do you have the time and space to commit to two separate bunnies while they go through the bonding process? Do you have a contingency plan in the event they don’t bond. Are you financially stable/independent enough to care for the medical needs of two bunnies. Your first bunny may be healthy and that’s great, but when you add a second one you really don’t know what health problems could arise down the road with bun 2 or even bun 1. So be financially prepared. As for would he be good with a friend, it depends on their personalities and if you’re patient enough to bond them properly.

Wait 1 month for the new bunny to settle in (absolutely no face to face interactions between them)
Prebond after the new bunny has settled in for about 1-2 months, the idea is to see little aggression
Short sessions in neutral territory increasing in length the more comfortable they get with each other.
