I’m calling the vet today to make an appointment to spay Olivia. I’m nervouse just thinking about. She HATES the vet, she’s absolutely terrified of the vet and the car. I’m going to try to schedule it the first week of November, since I’m not going to be very busy that week.
I got her in April and I assume she’s about a year, maybe a bit more or less but that is pretty much a guess. I got her from a pet store: like they know anything! I was told she had a litter at a pretty young age. Does spaying a rabbit who’s been pregnant make the spay more complicated or risky? Is it common for rabbits her age to develop cancer when unspayed or is it more common in a more aged rabbit?
I’m also a bit concerned that she’s lost some weight. I brushed her last night and she felt more bony than usual. I’m gonna put her on the scale today and moniter her every week until she goes into the vet. She’s built very small and dainty though so I think it’s probably normal for her to look and feel more thin than my other two. Her body type reminds me of a siamese cat, so slender and fine. I’m gonna start giving her more hay to eat during the day but if she loses any more, we’ll have to make a trip to the vet to get checked out.
