I apologize that I’ve been posting a ton here lately, but I enjoy having people to talk to about my beautiful bun and them actually enjoy it instead of endure it!

I am getting my female rabbit, pepper, spayed on the 27th. We are taking her in on the 26th for a checkup and pre-spay appointment and she is spending the night there and she will be spayed the next day, we will pick her up the next evening after her spay. Since she is spending the night should I just bring her cage and everything in it (we are working on free roaming so it is just a dog crate so it is bigger than pet store cages but not the minimum) and should I bring food (I’m bringing hay) Also, what medication should I ask for? My vet doesn’t give you medicine with the surgery but you can buy some but I’m not sure what to ask for. Thanks!

No need to apologize. The site is here to interact with fellow bunny lovers and to learn from each other!

I would ask your vet about your cage question. They may not have the set up to allow for this and may require her to stay in their cages. As far as bringing things from her cage I would also ask them about this. In my experience some offices won’t give the animals things that are brought that aren’t required. They may just end up labeling it and never giving them to her, I would bring pellets if she gets those because she is going to be there so long. I didn’t leave any of mine overnight but the hay I brought was even returned to me because my vet uses their own.

As far as medication, my vet only gave me Metacam for pain to take home. I would say pain meds are a must. I have heard some buns will be put on an antibiotic as well but I would talk to your vet about their thoughts on this.

          I hope everything goes well!
