I opened up the corner they were peeing in after closing it off for a few days. They didn’t pee there for a couple days but now they started again. Maybe because it’s right outside the x pen where their litter boxes are?

I noticed the pee smells like soy sauce or fishy miso soup. Does this mean anything? Maybe an infection? When I was cleaning the pen there was more pee in the back corner where the hidey house is. It smelled the same and so did the litter boxes (it was litter box day today).

Its perfectly normal for your bunnies pee to smell sort of soy-sauce-y, it just means they could be a little bit dehydrated. How many water bowls do you have in their enclosure? To stop your rabbits from peeing in the corner I would recommend putting their litter box in that corner, they are trying to tell you they want their litter box to be there. Hope this can help! 🙂

Rabbit urine can smell like onion or soy sauce, but a very strong odor might suggest that you have too little litter in the boxes or that you don’t have the best litter. I use wood stove pellets for my bun, because theyre cheap and highly absorbant and can be composted.

Rabbits are particular about where they pee. One method that might work is to place a litter box in the corner they pee in, then gradually, over a couple of weeks even, move the litter box little by little until it is where you want it. Don’t go too fast, because that won’t “fool” them. 😄

Hmmm I have two big water bowls I refill morning and night. It would still smell when he would pee on the floor. The pee hasn’t smelled like this in a while though! So whatever it was has stopped.

I’ll keep this stuff in mind if it happens again, thank you!
