OK I have to ask. I can’t take it anymore. Why oh why do we get these disgusting pictures on ads (“look what’s in your stomach”) on this site all the time? Is it because there’s so much talk about GI problems??? It’s really been bothering me, and the more I get on BB the more frustrated I get. It’s sooooo gross!
I bet that’s exactly it. I ordered some hay recently and I’ve been looking at programmable slow cookers and I’m getting ads for Small Pet Select and Cuisenart and Hamilton Beach slow cookers. The gi issue connection hadn’t occurred to me.
I think the ads are based off of your Google searches, and if you don’t have a broad-enough search history it displays those ones. Right now I have ads for bunny toys on Amazon (it’s the only thing I ever search) but I have seen those ones you are describing too. Never thought they could be because of bunny tummy issue threads, but that is a very good point.
I think the best way to deal with the ads is to install some sort of ad-blocker or something. :/
But do you have the same disgusting pictures when you bring up BB? Or are they personalized to me??
I get the “do not eat these 5 things” ad and a picture of intestines.
Just switched to PermaTreat pest control and I have never searched for any type of pest control . . .
If you are talking about the ones that have the little pictures of worms and larve and “look what’s in your stomach,” those are the ones I have. I also get the “eat this, never diet again” ones. I don’t think they are personalized to you. I’ll ask BB about this, just for clarification.
Right now I have one for PayPal (which I have never used) and one for some online furniture store, which I have never even heard of.
I use ad blocker, so I don’t see the adds anymore.
I get the adds that are like “Eat these foods, never diet again” or “Look what’s in your stomach” or “Don’t eat these 5 foods.” Sometimes we get adds from Amazon or things we’ve looked up so I don’t know…
I always get the “Eat these foods, never diet again” & “Don’t eat these 5 foods” – I have NEVER researched these topic’s!
I always thought my computer could see my tummy?????? Ha ha ha ha ha……. (NOT funny!).
AH— Lol.
I also get those adds that are like “75 year old grandma looks 25!” SOOOO photoshopped.
OMG Moxie – YES! So incredibly over the top, they should be ashamed of themselves!
I went to alert about this yesterday, but someone already had said something! BB can block certain ads, so she will do that if she sees fit.
Moxie-I saw one on here with a buff (and pretty attractive) guy who they claimed was 85. Uh huh.
Wow!! That’s really nice. I know it’s not like it’s X-rated stuff or anything, but it’s been going on so long and I just reached my limit, though I didn’t know anyone could even consider doing anything about it!Thanks folks!
From my experience, the BB queen and the BB wizard can do pretty much anything. ![]()
LEL— I know right? They’re saying this perfect skinned, blue eyed beauty is the 75 year old woman in the before pick? No, just…No.
AH— I know, making people click on their FAKE adds. Horrible really.
Hail the Queen and Wizard as they protect BB Land from evil advertisements!
Wait, there’s a BB Queen and a BB Wizard? And here I thought the BB box ruled all!
Ads are blocked for me, so I have no clue what you guys are talking about. LOL
With Google ads, I believe BB can block specific ads from popping up on the forum if she knows the URL. But that means someone has to click on the ad to get the address.
Well, I guess I shouldn’t say that. I know what you’re talking about since this weight loss ad kept popping up and I got pissed and got something to block the ads after that. LOL
But I don’t know what you’re talking about with regard to these specific ads. Intestines? Worms? Ew.

Yep, she has to have the url. I swear I have clicked on the ads tons of times? Lol!
Since BB can’t block the ads with out an URL, why not just try to tweak the algorithm that choose the ads you get. I mostly have been seeing furniture ads lately, b/c I’ve spent a lot of time looking for a demilune table for dad’s hallway. Before that I got mostly ads for threadless b/c I buy t-shirts there pretty often.
If you do many searches and click around on a shopping site of something benign for awhile, ads for that thing should start popping up instead.
That’s a great idea!!! I have my pop up blocker on, but didn’t know how to do more than that. I’ll try that. Thanks
Hi all — I do tweak the ad campaigns the best I can — I can block certain subjects and we have been able to successfully block some ugly and/or offensive ads. But like many others have mentioned – it will go by your demographic, your own personal search and also what’s site pages. So if you see some gross weight loss, or just something that has an ick factor or whatever, and you don’t want to click on the URL, See if you can catch the name of the business, and I will can at least try and block that business name. Though some businesses know we can do this and use a different url for the their google ads. (which will forward to their main site).
So this is what you should do if you want a particular ad to stop, contact us via the contact us link at the bottom of the site. In Subject Say: Google Ad Yuck! (That can cover so many things) – then in the body just put the business name and/or URL (again url is best but if you don’t want to click on it, that’s fine)
Don’t post the url or the business name in a post or thread (email me only) as that will just make things worse and add more of the same.
Helloworld!!
If you don’t want to go to the website to get the URL, you can just right click, get link address and it should copy the URL associated with the banner for you.
And yeah, I use adblock, because 90% of the spyware you get on a PC come from banner ads and tracking cookies from them. So, I never see any ads. Would rather donate to BB than deal with ads from it. ![]()
OK I’ll try that next time it comes up. Thanks for the help everyone! I’m trying it all.
Eepster, I think it worked! I don’t know how to get the URL w/o clicking, but I don’t think I need to now. I googled around at food, and now I’m getting offers for printable coupons.
Much nicer to look at.
Of course, like an idiot, I got excited and starting to click and download, then something caught my eye and I went to my husband, who went into tech mode and checked around and thinks I’m OK, but I’m not doing that again.
