First off I want to apoligize for asking os many questions haha normally if I did not have this group I would just go ahead but I lvoe finding out what others think etc lol

Oreo’s new cage is VERY slippery and I am finding when hoppin in and out of the litter box he is sliding causing himself and everything else to go all over the place. What would you suggest I was thinking of puttin a blanket in there but that would slide around also. There are these mats that are like pee mats but for rabbits cages I was lookin into but I am worried if I put the mat or carpet down he will go to peeing or poopin on it.

        What would you guys suggest.

Hello! Don’t worry about asking questions – thats how we all learn

i would recommend putting down carpet squares – this is what I use in my bunny’s cages and they are very soft on the feet, and also you can zip tie two of the sides to the cage so it doesn’t slide around. I don’t think your bunny will pee on them – maybe just on the very first day they have it so they can mark it – but it is very easy to spray a little vinegar and blot up the pee. I can find these squares usually at big lots, they are in the area where the rugs and welcome mats are.

Oh you are one lucky lady to have a brother like that!!  That will save you a small bundle!

Oh thats great you can get some carpet samples! If you go for the carpet that is very short I find that is easiest to both clean and vacuum. The plush ones tend to get pellet crumbs stuck in them, and are harder to blot with a paper towel in case of pee accidents.

do they have ikea anywhere near you? they have some very inexpensive little rugs that are just perfect in bunny’s houses and are easy to toss into the washing machine too. they’re about door mat sized and white with a blue strip on the ends.

for the bottom of my cage i used cardboard and covered it with fleece that is inexpensive at the sewing dept at Walmart. They cut it off the bolt of fabric, get it in any color. That way if they have an accident or somethin, you can pick it up and wash it and put it right back down. It is nice and soft on their little feet too.

Oh that’s a good point janymae! Cardboard is good flooring too, especially if you have a good supply of it, if it gets peed on! And I like that fleece idea!
